Does anyone know why their never is a change of season? Is this explained anywhere in the comic book or in an episode missed?
It could be just writers preference but not sure.

They've had winter in the comic, not sure why not in the show.

Summers last for decades. Winters last a lifetime.
Winter is coming.
Winter is coming.

Frozen zombies wouldnt be much of a threat.
It is pretty well implied when season 4 started that 6 months or so had passed with relatively no action.
Easy to assume this had a lot to do with the winter.

There were a couple of episodes where it got cold, but the show is set in Georgia not much of a winter there.

Winter always seems to happen during the off-season. Didn't season 3 open with a few scenes showing what the group had done post-farm/pre-prison--moving around and ransacking houses to survive the winter? I remember pregnant Laurie wearing a coat or something.

Like others have stated, winter happens in the off-season. The zombies move slower in the winter, especially if it snows.

Yes, season 1 & 2 span only about three months (until late Fall). When season 3 started, they mention how they made it through the winter by moving, scavenging, watching out for each other.
The next winter took place when the Governor was on his own, and all the people lived safely in the prison.

Kudzu growing unchecked would swallow Georgia.

Y'all know Daryl would still be suns out guns out even if there was a winter.

Dunno.
But they film the show in Fayette and Coweta County, Georgia every summer.
