Venice Looks to Secede from Italy

Scottish Independence has been in the works for 300 years.
Venice has only been a part of "Italy" for little over 100 years and only part of any other Italian nations since Napoleon conquered them.
Italy is also a nation that is incredibly corrupt with the industrialized, wealthy northern 3rd of the country (Milan, Florence, Venice, ect) bankrolling the bottom 2/3s which includes Sicily, Naples, and the agrarian, Mob-controlled South.
South of Rome is a completely different country from all points north. South of Naples is like a 3rd World Banana Republic, just substitute bananas for olives.
Venice is completely justified in their bid for independence just like Scotland (which was only brought into the United Kingdom by marriage of the nobles and not by the will of the people or conquest, as the Scottish people wanted nothing to do with the English after fighting numerous wars of Independence).
Crimea, on the other hand, was invaded by Russian troops who then intimidated the people into voting "yes" on a referendum that had the two choices "join Russia now" or "join Russia later". Biiiiiig difference. If the Russians had not invaded and the referendum had been legitimate, I would feel differently and support their secession.
