FDB, I turn to you for help again. I searched and all of the threads on this that I saw were from 2011 or before....

My family from Nashville is in BR for the week visiting other family and are coming down to NO Tuesday night and will be here through Thursday morning. My old man always hears about the great places we get to enjoy here and he's added a day to their trip just to come down and have me show him around a bit and take him to eat. Problem is that they will have my young brother and sister in tow (9 & 6 yrs). Any suggestions to really impress him and have food/environment for the younger ones?

I have breakfest solved (that's easy) and was thinking Domenica Wednesday for dinner because of the pizza for the kids. I've thought about Peche for lunch because I love that place but wonder about it with kids. Any help for lunch/dinner on Wednesday? Can be CBD/Warehouse/GD/Uptown and price needs to be appropriate with the kids in tow. Nice casual I guess for dress. TIA

Mandina's will work for a meal with kids, easily.

Do the kids have limited palates?

I think Peche for lunch is kid-appropriate for sure. And like you said, it's a killer restaurant. I would, for cautionary purposes, call them first and ask if they welcome children and also I'd figure out beforehand what you think they would eat from the menu.

Also maybe Cochon or Cochon Butcher would be a clutch lunch w/ kids in tow.

This is difficult for me to say.

I think the Rum House would be a good idea for a lunch with kids.

Plus they get to see a different neighborhood.

For the kids, maybe try American Sector, the Besh restaurant inside the WW2 museum.

Very small super causal lunch spot for kids would be Milk Bar. Good spot if you happen to be uptown and need a quick bite.

most places will work with kids I have found out and in the last many months we have done Antoines, Commander's, Palace Cafe, Muriels and Emeril's with kids.

Also the kid's loved American Sector and Ralph's on the park.

It depends on what your kids like, but most places will accommodate.
I was most worried about stuffy old Antoine's but they gave the kids colors and everything.

Mr B's has catfish fingers and a good burger on the menu for lunches. Good location and you walk Dad and the kids to Jackson Square and/or go for a carriage ride. Plenty to see and would make for a nice afternoon.

What's the consensus on Domenica for dinner with the kids?

It's not the traditional type pizza that kids are used to, in general. Just depends on their palates, really. You should review the menu to see if it will interest them. Find out what they eat if you don't know already.

Not really kid friendly pizza if you catch my drift.

Ehhh, they have several options that any average kid would like just fine.

ETA, Plus, I have no doubt if you ask them, they would make the equivalent of just a basic pepperoni pizza for your kids, if you don't like their listed options.

That's what I was thinking as well.
Dat dog definitely came to mind for lunch.

Coater, that's what I was looking for. Thanks man.
