Fredericksburg:
LINK great food...Hilltop Cafe
Fredericksburg Brewery, makes some pretty good beers. Area in back with huge screens for sports.
Alamo Springs Cafe Little bit out of town, but one of the best burgers you will ever have. One of their burgers was on the cover of Texas Monthly for their review of best burgers in Texas. Cold beer too.
The Nest Great place for romantic dinner. If you go get the shrimp appetizer, and the lamb chops.
Otto's a new restaurant right by the Nimitz museum. Great food!
Vaudeville Haven't been yet, but hear good things. Great for sandwhich during the day.
Rathskeller Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Awesome peach bread pudding if they have it.
Navajo Grille and August E are also supposed to be good, but I haven't been to them.
For wineries, check out Grape Creek and Becker Vinyards. There is also a place across the street from Grape Creek called 4.0 Cellars that has a great outdoor area and usually has a band playing in the evening.

For old-school Tex Mex:
Tamale House #3: The original on Airport. They have no tamales. Cash only. However, get a crispy taco dinner for $3.99. This is legit old austin. Not the very best, just down-home good.
Juan in a Million (Con Queso Breakfast -- most people will say the Don Juan, but be strong and get the con queso breakfast with over easy eggs and a black coffee)(Mix the yolks from the overeasy eggs/the queso/and the potatoes together, then put on a tortilla with some of the carne guisada and refried beans)
Amaya's Taco Village: Get the crispy tacos with fajita. They make their own shells made-to-order.
Joe's Bakery (Migas Breakfast)
Cisco's (love me some picadillos).
Unique Cuisines:
Russian House (slow before 8pm, has a nightclub in the front, it's real kooky but fun)
Buenos Aires Cafe(Argentinian)
Casa Colombia (Colombian. Get the Bandeja Paisa)
Inka Chicken (peruvian style chicken I ate here for 4 days straight, their hotter style salsa is addictive. Get the plantains/yucca fries/and tortillas)
Asia Cafe (extremely authentic chinese food from the mainland, not our american style chinese. I suggest the Teppan Beef)
Rice Bowl Cafe (Taiwanese Cuisine. Try the Pork over rice, its served with a savory pepper sauce)
Das Cafe (German food in Pflugerville. Some Germans actually run it, and yet despite that, they don't have a Prussian-sense of speedy and orderly service)
Szechuan House: Dont get the American style chinese food...get the authentic eats. Nice and spicy.
Korea House: A real great family and great authentic korean food. The kimchi is fantastic.
The Dojo: Japanese Izakaya (japenese style bar)
Titaya's: (I haven't been since the reopening after all the renovations, and I hear about some menu changes. However it was the best Thai in town.)
Good restaurants including Locavore-style:
Barley Swine
Foreign & Domestic
Lenoir's
Elizabeth St
Salt & Time
Michi Ramen
Hi Hat Public House
Banger's
êpicerie cafe & grocery
Swifts Attic
The Noble Pig (get the BLT that is made with pork belly)
Odd Duck
Porter Ale House
La V
Blackbird and Henry
