Final Betta weekend or so the email said.

I'm honestly shocked by how little I care about this game, given how many countless hours I put into Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Easily 1200 plus hours.

Maybe I am still burned out after my 3 characters on Skyrim but I am not the least bit interested in this game at the moment.

1200 hours isn't a lot..

I put in over 2500 hours playing Fallout 3.

they put 10+ years into development of this (allegedly) and it's one of the worst MMO's I've seen.

They should've rolled with the fallout mmo.

I tried that Skyrim game, I don't know how anyone plays that crap. Just one man's opinion. I play games that would bewilder the frick out of people

That is because it is a generic MMO with an Elder Scrolls theme to it. I have signed up for the PS4 beta to see if I care enough to play it on a console but I don't see myself playing another MMO@$15/month unless it is exceptional.

I just whipped out my old SWG disks and installed SWGemu last night for about an hour and it is still pretty awesome. They are limiting their main server to 3000 players right now is the only problem so you will never see a lot of players in one place. It felt pretty neat to go into Mos Eisley cantina and see 50 players in it again though.

I think the main problem for me is I don't think I will ever be able to get back into a new MMORPG. Too much time invested in another one so if I was going to play one, it would be back to the old one.

That is one of my biggest things too. I like playing at my own pace instead of having to race and keep that pace to stay up with the top 25% of the server. That is why I said that a game would have to be exceptional for me to get into it.

I am struggling getting going on SWGEmu even though I played Galaxies for years. I have no access to money, armor or decent weapons so it is really hard to start. I can't even kill the crappy dudes outside of the starports right now to start to get better.

Elder Scrolls online just isn't exceptional. It could have been and it still could be, but right now I get a very eerie feeling about it compared to SWTOR.

I agree with this. Elder Scrolls online isn't even fun to play at all right now. The most fun MMO I've played lately has easily been final fantasy 14 a realm reborn.

It's pretty simple.

When you make a mmo out of a series whose defining features have revolved around the fact that the games are single player, it's just not going to work.

You aren't going to get the "I impact the world" feeling in a multiplayer environment when it comes to story.

It's your standard go here, collect this, turn in bullshite.

It's a crappy genre which has ruined more than one excellent gaming company that tried to cash in instead of making an actual good game like the pioneer games of the genre.

I agree with most of your post.

EQ started with the difficulty that was required by D&D standards as best they could, they attracted a lot of players and were the king of the hill. Being the king of the hill attracted fringe people, the WoW came out with it's easy play and marketed to the common denominator. Those of us that like the EQ style of play were then doomed to where we were before, the "in the basement" types.

WoW brought MMO to the the masses with the easy play. The genre loves it because the masses see it as a true MMO game play experience. The few of us that tried WoW coming from the original games didn't last long in that environment.

Most old school players tried WoW an had less time in that game than we did with our old school games. MUD might have been the purest form of what we old school players want.

Are there any MUD's still going I would like to find one.

I guess they have made some changes, I have read a few posts on anandtech that were going to skip it, but the last two weekends changed their mind. Still a no go for me though.
