North Carolina school officials are telling a 9-year-old North Carolina who has been bullied for bringing a My Little Pony lunch bag to school to leave the bag at home.
Grayson Bruce and his mother say he is being shoved around by school bullies who think his favorite bag is for girls.
"They're taking it a little too far, with punching me, pushing me down, calling me horrible names, stuff that really shouldn't happen," Bruce told WLOS News13, an ABC affiliate in Asheville, N.C. "Most of the characters in the show are girls, and most of the people put it toward girls, most of the toys are girlie."
But Noreen told the station Thursday the school asked her son to leave the bag at home because it had become a distraction and was a "trigger for bullying."
She said that doesn’t make sense and wants the school to punish Grayson’s tormentors.
"It's promoting friendship, there's no bad words, there's no violence, it's hard to find that, even in cartoons now," she said.
Grayson has developed a following on Facebook after a friend made a support page for him.
Buncombe County Schools gave WLOS a statement that said: "An initial step was taken to immediately address a situation that had created a disruption in the classroom. Buncombe County Schools takes bullying very seriously, and we will continue to take steps to resolve this issue."
The My Little Pony Cartoon is a decades-old kids show that uses pony characters to emphasize the bonds of friendship.
Grayson is now using a different backpack.

Bet anything it's a single mother.
Why do women insist on doing this crap to boys?
Wife's friend has a son who she always dresses up for pictures. Seen lil dude in sailor outfits, as a flower and a lot more questionable stuff. Poor little guy is gonna be so picked on.

What lazy leadership. Trigger for bullying? How about handling the bullies.
What if it's because he is scrawny and an easy target? Just stay home or don't be so small?

They definitely would have handled that differently in California.

What if someone gets bullied for having better grades? Maybe they can give everyone straight B's to prevent jealousy issues. As an added bonus, the equal outcomes would be "fair".

right? we understand your kid is smarter than average, but could you please dumb him down to make it easier on the bullies, so they don't feel the need to bully him

I was always fond of this quote from the movie Henry Fool. I think more people who are bullied should use it.
Listen hombres, OK, you got me outnumbered here four to one and you're gonna kill me here tonight and not a soul in this dimly lit world is gonna notice I'm gone. But one of you, one of you, one of you is gonna have his eye torn out. Period. . . .I repeat myself: One of you poor, underpaid jerks is gonna have an eye ripped out of its socket. I promise. It's a small thing perhaps, all things considered, but I will succeed, because it's the only thing I have left to do in this world. So why don't you just take a good look at one another one last time, and think it over a few minutes more.

Scruffy thinks this brony should be thanking the school.

quote:Nope, actually the school district is conforming with a new Appellate Court decision from Cali. On cinco de mayo, some Mexican kids picked a fight with American kids that wore American flags to school. School district said to take them off or be sent home. Mind you it was the Mexican students inciting violence. Appellate Court ruled the school district could do whatever necessary to minimize violence, effectively enforcing the bullies decision. Gotta love this country. LINK

This is awesome.
Also, I agree with Scruffy.

The kid should leave his bag at home. His parents should have told him that. That is no kind of bag for a 9 year old school boy. Get him into something else.
