Caveat I- I've been riding in Spanish Town for over a decade and couldn't tell you much about the last time I saw it as a spectator. Hell, I couldn't tell you much about any of the times I've ridden in the damn thing.

Caveat II- I've only been to St. Patty parade a handful of times and never really had a chance to get the fully party experience. I do know the over pass area seems to be "where it's at" and there are quite a few hotties that ride.

What OT opinion?

Parades themselves are pretty close to equal?

I'd say the 'after party' is better for St. Patty's.

Both have grown and evolved as events. Don't really care for either anymore.

Spanish town has become Mardi Gras in Baton Rouge over indulgence. The floats used to be satire and are now distasteful. (Not all) It seems to be more about shock value over revelry.

St. Patricks is now about how many people can fit on one float and the "look at me I am riding in a parade" spectacle. It is the epitome of a reason to get drunk in the morning and continue throughout the day over heritage.

Both could be scaled back a bit and still be impactful.

I remember the humble origins of the Spanish Town parade when it was put on by and for the residents of Spanish Town. It has now grown into a spectacle of corporate floats that have no connection to Spanish Town and peopled by drunken a-hole bead throwers from Livingston Parish and Sherwood Forest.

Both are good. Just depends on who you know on the route. Some years I have more friends living on the Spanishtown route. Other years it sways back to St. Patrick's parade.

This applies to every parade.

Before today I would have said St. Pattys day, after today, Spanishtown. Not sure what happened today. This was a much smaller and toned down St. Pattys day.

Judging from what I've seen and heard from my friends it was slightly more tame, I think all of the parties down there now are just spreading the crowds out though
