I hope they spend a shite ton of money defending supposed "safe" seats. Smell the fear.

Democrats are facing their toughest Michigan Senate fight in two decades.

A sour national political climate, a little-known candidate and big spending by conservative outside groups have given Republicans a real shot at winning an open seat and boosted their chances at seizing Senate control.

The race is close. It will be close. Off-year elections here are often close,” says Michigan-based pollster Ed Sarpolus.

Some Democrats are nervous.

“This is a national race. If we lose Michigan, it's over for us controlling the Senate,” said one Democrat involved in the race. “This race has become more competitive… We have to take this campaign to a different level now.”

The Kochs beating up Gary was a big deal,” said the Michigan Democratic strategist. “This race is absolutely in a different place than it was before… For the first time people are saying 'this is going to be more work than we thought.’”

President Obama’s approval rating and ObamaCare’s early struggles are also taking a toll. Obama’s approval rating has hovered slightly above 40 percent in most polls in a state he won by 9 percentage points in 2012

Gee, why would people in Michigan be dissatisfied with monolithic Democratic control of their state?
Especially with three or four hundred Pay-Day-Loan stores still open .

I just have a bad feeling one of two things will happen:

1) The GOP will find a way to step on its collective dick and lose several Senate elections it should have won.

2) The GOP will take over and we'll get the same assclown RINO idiocy we saw from the Bush/Frist/Hastert braintrust.

Dems going motherfricking down. '14 and '16 are landmark elections in this country's history.

This is a given either way.

They deserve it.

Maybe. But the GOP needs to get serious about economic freedom instead of being D Lite. They also need to lay off the social issues and the surveillance state. Otherwise it's the same product in a different container.

When you say lay off social issues do you mean wanting the GOP to embrace same sex marriage, drug laws and abortion rights nationwide or leave that up to the states?

Because the true limited government constitutional view is to leave that up to the states. The big government view is nationwide blanket laws for those issues

One of the primary things the GOP has to do is find a way to paint a picture of how much worse Obamacare would be impacting the American people if Obama had not delayed the employer mandate.

They need to keep running Obama's lies in 2012 about people being able to keep their plans and their doctors, and then simply state that it would be impacting so many more people if the employer mandate was already in effect.

Also, play that clip of Pelosi saying, "we'll have to pass the bill before you can find out what's in it" a million times. You know, the legislation that is so awesome, they can't even fully implement it.

I hope the GOP is smarter this time around. The bozo's running Romney's campaign had so many opportunities to hit back against the phony charges that the Dems were making, and basically did little or nothing.

2014 needs to HURT for liberal Democrats.

Yeah, seriously. I used to never think this way, but it needs to be just brutal. The only way to beat a bully is to punch back twice as hard.

The federal government should take a hands off approach. Back off the war on drugs, don't pass federal abortion restrictions, etc.

At the same time, oppose the left's idiocy like the contraception mandate. Take the position that it's none of the government's business, and personal autonomy means you have the right to choose an insurance plan that meets your personal needs.

Ah, so you think ACORN just went away and became volunteers at the local Homeless shelter?

Zach makes a good point. Those community organizer groups like ACORN are like roaches. You can run them off, but they'll just morph into another acronym and be just as dedicated to their usual shenanigans as before.

We will ALWAYS have those bastards to contend with.

If it is determined that a state is infringing on one's civil liberty, the Supreme Court will step in. So, leaving the issues up to the states is not necessarily the answer.

Of course, I damn near wept when Obama was reelected.
