The gas & oil industry buying ads saying #fracking is "clean and safe" is like drug dealers saying "heroin is healthy & good for you!"

Didn't you used to be Matthew Modine?
I Loved your work in Funky Monkey.
Before I saw it I was unaware of high-tech super-chimps.

I believe the peak-oilist and green turds are disappointed that fracking has dampened their hopes of society using less fossil fuel energy. It's going to eventually happen, just not in their lifetime.

I'll bet everything I own that he's never made a statement like that about people being hooked on gubmint cheese.

This is what its all about

Keystone Pipeline, fracking, etc. lefties don't like it because it delays their utopian vision of green energy. They want it now

Sustainable energy has new developments all the time. Within my lifetime I think we'll switch to mainly sustainable energy and I don't understand why that's a bad thing.

It's not a bad thing. Government forcing it on us and picking winners and losers in that market is.

we've been subsidizing energy markets for a long time. It's nothing new that the government is going to be involved with our energy production markets.

I get that. Doesn't make it right, though.

The government may subsidize certain green energy initiatives, but for the most part they suppress efforts to shift the paradigm

The government very much helps keep the status quo for the oil/gas industry.

You mean when they wasted billions trying to green energy companies to get going?
They really did think they were going to make something happen. The current administration is just that stupid.
If they wanted to stick with the status quo and help conventional energy, they would have okayed Keystone 3 years ago.

Yeah, that stuff was moronic. They throw money at dumb projects, but make things difficult for anyone trying to break the status quo.

Believe it or not "big oil" (e.g., Exxon, Chevron, Shell, etc.) invest billions in other energy sources. In fact they view themselves as energy companies unlike the public who view them as oil companies. When fossil fuels become cost prohibitive they will be the first to jump. In fact Chevon is a major producer of geothermal energy in India, for example. The government didn't force Chevron to capture and distribute clean sustainable geothermal energy. The market did.

I absolutely believe that, I'm aware of it.

It's the same thing the tobacco companies did.. they were able to hold off a lot of the anti smoking stuff and increased taxes until they were able to diversify. Now, as I understand it, these big tobacco companies make most of their profit from non tobacco sales.
