Young people (under 50) who refer to themselves as "old"

Friend of mine just turned 30. He posted a picture of himself at dinner with his g/f with the caption "Celebrating the big 3-0. I'm officially old."
Does that bug anyone else, or am I just overly sensitive? I'm 31. I don't see that as old. I don't even see 51 as old. Yeah, I know it was said as "tongue in cheek", but it's still irritating.
My grandmother just passed away at 95. At the end of her life she was completely immobile and bedridden because she broke her hip and the doctors basically said that there is nothing that they could do because of her age. Watching my father care for her was heartbreaking. THAT'S old. When other people act like 30 or 40 is old it just pisses me off because I know what old is.

I think it's just something people say to laugh about and make them feel better about not being a teenager anymore. My gf is 23 and she always talks about how she's old. It is kind of irritating.

I turn 50 this year, and I refer to myself as an old man to most people younger than me. I feel that way most days too.

I regularly say "I'm getting too old for this" at 30 just to get a rise out of older people
