It is simple and will cost the US Government nothing. The US government and other governments helped create this problem with their complex and cronyistic tax codes. Let these companies bring their dollars back to the US and stimulate our economy. It is free.

If it presents adequate opportunities for graft, I'm sure our government will look into this.

If the pols think a 'tax holiday' won't work, just add a provision in the tax code that repatriated cash is taxed at a lower flat rate, for example 10% to 15%.

Even better idea is to reform the tax code, where businesses want to bring the money to the states...

I agree. I am sure they could bring in Apple, IBM, Microsoft et al and ask them what would work. I would be surprised if they have not already discussed this in some form or fashion.

If $2T and growing is out there using that money instead of the Federal Reserve has to be cheaper.

I think a better bet of happening is a Tax Holiday. No politician wants to reform their method of buying votes.

I like this idea better but I think the reality is closer to this:
