This is beyond infuriating. How can the courts let this menace on the streets. DUI laws are absurd...at least in SC.

Money and knowing the right people always takes care of DUIs. Had a coach in HS that had that many. At least he wasn't allowed to drive the bus anymore.

I am sick to my stomach.

If I made the laws:

1 - 6 month suspension

2 - 5 year suspension of license, 30 days min inside

3 - License gone forever, 10 years behind bars

4 - Life without parole

I think the DUI laws are too strict and harass the innocent with checkpoints, but when you are on your 6th DUI (especially if you kill a kid) they should chain your arse up in the shower at angola and let the inmates have some fun.

1 DUI is a terrible reckless "mistake" at best.

2 DUIs is a pattern that should legally force the person from ever driving again.

I'd bet there are at least a dozen individuals that are guilty of enabling someone like this to get this far. They have blood on their hands.

What butthurt drunk is downvoting all of these comments? The man is a killer and has absolutely no concern for anyone else's life, and hardly his own. frick him, and frick you if you drive drunk.

Hell, if this guy was a local, there'd be posters on here knighting for him. Or at least saying "it's bad, but..." and trying to explain why he shouldn't get thrown under the jail. A lot of people just don't think drunk driving is a big deal, or they see themselves in the perp's shoes.

I wonder if South Carolina has a vehicular homicide statute.

Sounds like he was about to get the book thrown at him and knew it. Prior to his court he was being even more reckless. Sucks. Poor kid and family.

This is terrible for the kid's family. I can't imagine what they're going through.

THIS

I have no idea why, as a society, drunk driving is not more frowned upon. It's pretty freaking sad.

To the jackasses downvoting these comments, I hope you never have a DUI affect you.

My uncle died in the 80's at the hand of a drunk driver. It's pretty real to me.

Ok, I'll come clean. Once I read this, I went through and downvoted every comment except my own.
