Ridge Vent Question

Is it worth it to put one on a 12x20 shed? The 20' would be vented. If it helps I plan on having a 2' overhand with vented soffit, non insulated and no ceiling.

On a metal roof or shingled roof?

Do you plan on having open windows while this shed is closed up? If so, I'd say its worth it. It'll keep everything inside at a better temp.

The soffits vents are only part of the roof vent, look at this diagram.

I had a window with a screen into the back of my Morgan, and it worked fine. IIRC, the window was 16x24

If you are building, build 10' walls...

I planned on 10' walls, only thing holding me back is is I wanted to use LP Smart Panel. They only come in 8' sheets so I would have to do some splicing on the outer walls. Do you cover the splice with a 1x4 strip and caulk it? What's the process on that?

For the most part yes. The 2' soffits should help keep the water from the splices...

The shed that I built is similar in size, I just opted to install gable end vents.

Listen to wick. Smart guy. Having ridge vent without soffit vent or vice versa is really useless. And yes, if you're putting comp roofing on, I would go with the ridge vent.

I will definitely have soffit vents.
However my soffit isn't going to to be quite 2'....... if I remember it will be closer to 14" or so. I drew it out with a 6/12 pitch and wanted to use 8' lumber on the roof. Ill check out my dwgs when I get to work. Is that sufficient overhang?

I built one recently an left the overhang a little longer just so I could put old kegs and lawn equipment against it on the back side.
