What do you think he would say?

No this year sucks and was a waste?

Come on.

And gotta look at the high points of the year and what it holds for the future. Beat UK and took them into OT the 2nd time at their house. Almost / should have beat them. And we had our best finish in conference play since the 08-09 season.

We have 2 freshman in Mickey and Martin who are the real deal. Hopefully / most likely returning.

Did we have some tough moments of the season? Sure. Did we lose to some teams that we shouldnt have? You betcha.

Jock strap didn't quote everything. He said because the team grew as the season went on...then said something about how it's a big week now or something.

Like SoS said, it's coach speak. We have one hope of NCAAT...win the sec tourney title. He's not gonna get in front of camera and say "Our season is over and was a disappointment."

Also, our freshmen did grow...well Martin did, Mickey sort of stayed the same, but he was still very solid (and TQ was growing until his boy got murdered and he had to miss the UK game...he's been ATROCIOUS since then). The more I see the team play, I just feel like winning isn't the #1 thing to any of them except maybe Stringer and Shavon. Problem is Stringer is tiny and Shavon is hit or miss. If JOB, Mickey, Martin played with the intensity Shavon played with, we'd be a top 25 team.

"Our season sucked. Not making NCAA tournament might as well just quit now."

sounds better right?

People bash CJJ because of his X's and O's, and some of it is definitely warranted. I'm one of his biggest supporters, and I'll agree our offense and especially our defense blows at times. But in college basketball where all players aren't the same caliber, it's more about jimmies and joes than x's and o's. I think we're moving in the right direction still, despite having a subpar season in the fan's eyes.

Actually we had the exact same record (9-9) last year. So we get a great recruiting class, bring back three starters and don't improve our record. There's no way anyone can defend that and CJJ should man up and admit he dropped the ball this year.

We finished in 7th place, instead of 9th like we did last year.

So if we win the SEC tourney and go to the NCAA's...is it a bad year? Hell no...so why is he supposed to come out days before the biggest game/s of the season and say "Utter failure of a year."

Wait til the season is over and I'm positive you will hear him say he was not pleased with the overall results.

People also don't realize this...if he comes out and talks about how disappointing things are and he's not happy, it's a back-handed way of bashing the players. He's coaching kids and trying to keep them to stay positive. People can get mad how he handles the team on the court, but he does well off of it.

Blame lies on the players too. Jones did a good job with last year's team as well.

This year is still going on and no way a coach is gonna piss on a season that isn't over yet.

Personally, I'm not eager to have our coach slam his coaching for the world to see and use against us in recruiting.

People underestimate how important Charles Carmouche was last year. He was an experienced guard that knew how to score and defend really well. The one thing he had most over any LSU player since CJJ has been here is basketball IQ.

Still though, the thing that really hurts this team is the fact that we have nobody on the bench that can push our starters for playing time. This team played with high intensity at the beginning of the year mainly because everyone was fighting for playing time and our best players knew they'd be pulled if they fricked up. Our 6 main guys (Hickey, Stringer, JOB, Coleman, Martin, and Mickey) all know that no matter what they do they won't be beat out by anyone off the bench. Notice how Stringer and Coleman play with the most fire? That's because they usually come off the bench and feel like they have to earn their playing time.

Everything isn't always so cut-and-dry. Maybe try to turn off ESPN for a second and think for yourself.

"We had loftier goals than finishing 6th in the conference. I expected more from me and the team. With that in mind we expect to wreck shite in the SECT"

Not that hard.

Shouldn't be hard to understand that you don't evaluate a season before the season is over either, but some seem to have a want to.

The head coach evaluated it. Why shouldn't we?

Maybe something true like "we fell well short of our own and our fans expectations"
