With the changes coming in the back field we have all been wondering what the FO has in mind. And this got me thinking about what is it that we have in KRob?
With the way CSP has used or better yet hasn't used him I realized I knew little to nothing about the kid. I assumed he couldn't catch out of the backfield and was a poor blocker for Brees. And he was limited to running between the tackles only.
I may have assumed wrong!

Date of birth: December 28, 1989 (age 24)
Place of birth: Midland, Texas
Height: 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m) Weight: 220 lb (100 kg)

quote:

Robinson transferred to West Texas A&M after earning his associate's degree from Blinn College. In 2012, Khiry was a huge part of the offense, rushing for 1,621 yards (6.6 YPC) with 15 TDs in 13 games. He also added 38 receptions for 430 yards and 4 TDs. At 6'0", 220 pounds Robinson certainly passes the eye test with his tough, physical running style while having the ability to make tacklers miss. He doesn't have excellent speed (about a mid 4.6 sec in the 40), but seems to have good instincts. I simply see Chris Ivory type of potential here, except with better hands.

While most of us may not have heard of Khiry Robinson, many analysts of the college game looked at Robinson as a sleeper in this year's draft. Most of them love his all around game (including his pass blocking ability) and his natural football instincts.

Someone posted a quote from Parcells about CSP having a Curtis Martin type RB on the roster that he was not using(Khiry) but I couldn't find it any where.
Lets hope Ol Bill is right

PS Very little pre draft 2013 but several sites had him as a sleeper in the draft.

I think Ivory is a good comparison. They run with the same intensity.

It would be nice for Robinson or Ingram to develop ability in the screen game. Not a Thomas or Sproles level (honestly they became too predictable) but enough to keep that threat alive.

I'm 1 day older, and a lot less successful.

I think I'll sneak into the NFL next season though.

I met a guy Saturday that worked at the Saints facility, he told me aside from Drew that Robinson was probably the first guy there and the last to leave almost every day.

John lynch was told by Sean Payton before the Seahawks playoff game that Bill Parcells told Sean he needs to run Khiry more because he reminds him of Curtis Martin.

I don't see why people underrate Ingram/Robinson so much in the passing game. In college, they both produced 30+ receptions in at least 1 season. Lining them up wide would be a mistake obviously, but they could do what Ryan Mathews does.

I'm in that group as well and its because we just haven't seen it from these two yet in the pro's.
But it seems that could be about to change.

The last time this happened.....2006, Preseason game 2 in Shreveport. Dallas beat New Orleans, Parcells tells SP that he has a hell of a player in that Colston kid.

Maybe there is something to this Martin comparison.

that was the reference in the Seattle game (Parcells)

rotoworld blurb-
Khiry Robinson rushed 13 times for 57 yards and a touchdown in New Orleans' Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks.
The undrafted rookie caught one pass for 13 yards. Apparently compared to Curtis Martin by Bill Parcells during the week, Robinson had little trouble finding lanes against Seattle's up-and-down run defense, but had an obvious fumble missed by the referees. An imposing 6-foot-0, 220 pounds, Robinson goes into the offseason on the back of a 54/224/1 year as a rusher. He has deceptive speed for his size. Robinson has obvious upside as a runner, but is going to have trouble tapping it in New Orleans' committee backfield. He's worth a hold in Dynasty leagues, but is unlikely to be a major asset in 2014.

the bold could make the Sproles and potential PT23 departures more than just a salary cap decision

more rotoworld-
ESPN analyst Louis Riddick expects the Saints' backfield to be "the Khiry Robinson show" in 2014.
We tend to agree. The Saints are moving on from Darren Sproles and quite possibly Pierre Thomas, not only to create salary cap space but in a transition of coach Sean Payton's ground-game mindset. New Orleans is going to try to field more of a drive-sustaining run game going forward, as opposed to the change of pace it was with Sproles and Thomas. The arrow is screaming upward on Robinson's Dynasty outlook. Mark Ingram's role will also increase.

look at the last 3 games for KR & MI-

64 attempts 318 yards 4.97 ypc

run that to an every game standard in 2014-

21 carries 106 yards

that x 16= 336 carries & 1696 yards

I think we'll see the first 200+ carries rusher on the Saints since Deuce in '06.
