How easy was it for you making friends in college?

A friend of mines son is going to LSU this year, he's worrying that he won't be able to make friends. I told him, college is different, its like starting completely over.

Pretty easy, and I commuted for 4 years.
Tell him to get involved with the university in some way. Find groups with a common interest, and it will go from there.

If you just sit in your dorm smoking weed and playing call of duty, yeah. He's gonna have some issues. Just gotta get involved. Personally I made a lot of friends when I started drinking heavily.

Worried about making friends at a big state school like LSU? Seriously, tell him not to worry about it. I can guarantee him that whatever his interests/hobbies, there is a group or organization he can join. I'm sure LSU's student affairs department has some sort of student organization fair at the beginning of fall semester. Tell him to go if he's worried about finding a way to fit in.

To meet people just to hang out with? Took 30 minutes.
To actually find people I enjoyed spending time with took a while but it wasn't difficult. Just be open at the beginning if he isn't going to rush because friend groups form quick.

It's the easiest time in his life to meet friends. Sure there are some preconceived social groups from people who went to high school together, but even they are eager to meet and add people to their group.

I found it really easy to make friends. You hang with people in dorms. Classmates have study groups. There are plenty of ways to make friends if you have any social skills.

Making friends just sort of "happens."
When I went to LSU, I was one of only 4 people from my High School that went there being from out of state.
In law school, I was the only person I knew going into it.
It just works itself out.

Even if he is one, then he can still hang with other betas. You've got to completely and entirely lack social skills in basically every situation in order to not make friends in college.

I met a bunch of guy in my major. You take the same classes for 4 yrs makes it very easy
