Are we assuming that he's going to ask for too much money for us to want to re-sign him? If so, that's another void that we need to address, unless we consider Headhunter psuedo-Reggie Bush to be our guy. I've heard a lot of about CB, OL and WR but safety looks to be another position of need.

I think we're done with him. He bounced back last year, but he still misses too many tackles. The nice thing about him is that he's versatile, but he's not really good at one thing.

He'll probably ask for more than he's worth to the Saints. Don't see NOLA in his future as he will likely be overpaid somewhere.

Move him back to corner opposite Lewis and grab another safety to go with Vaccaro

I'd much rather Vaccaro play the hybrid S/CB.

Bush was better than him anyways, but I wouldn't mind adding a 3rd safety

Me too. I want Jenkins to actually play corner like he was supposed to. I've been saying that since he got here and we moved him instead of getting a true FS

I wouldn't mind MJ coming back at a team friendly price.
But a rider would have to be put in any new contract that he cannot come within 20 yards of the safety position nor due to injury can he fill in at said position.

Move on, he's pretty bad as far as safeties go.

In that case i'd prefer he do a 1 year prove it deal. There's no guarantee he will succeed if moved back to corner.

Also I think we are overdue for a DB with some ball skills. Sprinkling a few turnovers in with the way our defense played last year would be sick.

He hasn't proven to be a good corner. He was bad in the slot in 2009. I could see him succeeding on the outside

I want Jenkins back. Solid depth.

disclaimer: only at a cheap friendly contract.

Cheap friendly contract that moves him back to corner with some incentives built in for him.

I'm all for it.

I really want a different safety though. We need to get a ball hawk. Big hitters are being written out of football by the rules so just get two coverage minded free safeties and nix the SS position all together

Jenkins gets burned by tight ends and running backs. What makes you think he'll have more success moving back to corner where he played worse than safety? That's just silly.

The problem is he's probably not all for it and doesn't make since for him. Somebody is going to overpay for his services.

There was a reason why the saints moved him to FS opposed to corner.

It's time to part ways. He's not good and some team who needs secondary help is going to drive up his market value (like the eagles)

That doesn't change my opinion and as far as I'm concerned the reason was stupidity on someone's part. We've been missing a FS since the rapist left

I think he's better at coverage than playing the field at safety.
I've said before I thought Rob used him best as in up in the box and far away from the back end. Seemed to be better playing a hybrid reading the play CB/LB Harper type roll.
I think MJ is very good at reading the off and knowing what play is coming up.
He just can't get there from his safety position.

I'd rather Harper back. At least he can play the coverage LB/box safety role.

Jenkins has been far too inconsistent and does many things decent or terrible and nothing great. Can't play deep, can't cover better receivers, struggles against faster TEs and RBs(yes a lot of people do I know), takes poor angles, and has poor tackling technique.

Why would the Saints move him from cb to FS?

Cb>>>>FS in terms of importance.

You can rock your Jenkins jersey and think what you want to think but Jenkins isn't very good at covering or tackling and you will be overpaying him if he returns.

This.

He's not a bad player. He doesn't need to start 16 games at safety. He doesn't need to start 16 games at CB either. He's a joker/hybrid football player that can start at either if needed, but needs to be in the slot at times, needs to play safety at times, needs to rush the QB at times and needs to play outside some times.

He's the defensive Reggie Bush.
