Positions that we need to at least get bodies at are LT and S.
Positions we lost starters at are FB, C, RT, CB, and S(added Byrd).
I think we draft WR, LB, NT, C, CB, and OG for the future.
Guys I think we could still bring back cheap or for vet minimum:
QB McCown
FB Collins
WR Meachem
WR Morgan
OLB Haralson
C De la Puente and RT Strief could return but would be more costly.
The guys we cut I could see us wanting to bring back cheap are WR Moore and CB Greer. Only one I think would come back is Greer though(if he gets healthy).

Even with Cooks. I think we still need to add a WR

i wouldn't mind getting a corner in free agency or in the draft.
but I'd rather get one in free agency instead of the draft.
I feel like White has gained some valuable experience. And to me, I feel like he'll keep getting better.
PRob snagged some interceptions in 2011 ans 2012 and I feel like he'll do fine if that line continues to their part.

A lot of people forget PRob actually won the nickel spot before going down with an injury. White was actually our 4th(dime) corner.
So for a dime corner White did a good job, but I think he should be nickel at best until he shows better technique.
Prob has shown starter potential but has been inconsistent.

Right now I have 0 trust in PRob. We need the Captain!

the one game where i just sunk my head was when Dez Bryant abused him in 2012.
but then i was like, you know what, that Dez Bryant guy is pretty fricking good.
after all that abuse, PRob contested a pass to Bryant in overtime that fell incomplete. Saints get the ball back and go on to win.
I'm eager to see what PRob can do in a Rob Ryan defense. We didn't really get to see it this past year because he got hurt early on.

And now with only 2 starting caliber safeties instead of 4 the corners should get their chance this year.

I like the Captain.
he gets the hometown discount from me.
but I feel like the guys we have are just as capable without him. that's just my opinion of course. Been wrong plenty of times before though
i'd like for us to draft someone like Calvin Pryor at safety and then it would be on!

I just would like the Saints to have the holes filled before the draft so if a stud WR is there, or Pryor, or a fast coverage LB we can just take them instead of worrying about who will play center or right tackle or corner, etc.

Looking at the WR depth chart on paper makes me want to x 20. We're so weak there. I definitely don't think it would hurt bringing in a vet via FA, even if it's just for depth. We definitely need to grab one in the first 3 rounds of the draft as well though.
ETA: :yack: x 20 at the DB spot as well. God I hope P-Rob comes back and watched a lot of tape while he was recovering. We NEED him to step up this year.

Not much to update, but nonetheless.
Safety is now an afterthought as long as we can retain Bush. Another cheap vet and either a late draft pick or UDFA just for depth/competition for camp.
Byrd also makes corner slightly less of a need.
Updated Needs:
C(cheap starter in FA; draft future starter)
S(backup; draft and/or FA)
LT(backup; draft or FA)
WR(whatever type is BPA when we pick in draft)
LB(draft fast cover guy)
G(draft to eventually replace Evans or Grubbs)
CB(draft to be the eventual long term #2)
NT(draft to replace Bunkley's high salary)
We have 7 draft picks and I think we should definitely try to add a C, WR, and LB while shooting for a CB, G, and NT with the last pick being pure BPA.

Added Humber.
Still need a starting C as our top need but I have a strong feeling that will come in the draft.

Another update after signing Strief, Lorig, and Morgan.
We at least have depth everywhere except for LT and one of the safety spots. In a pinch I'm sure Strief, Harris, or Jones could fill in at LT(if Strief then one of the other two fill in at RT).
Center is still clearly the highest need heading into the draft.

I honestly wouldn't be upset if we Took the number 1 or 2 center in 2nd round if we really liked the player. Shoring up the interior of our o line would likely have the biggest overall trickle down effect of any improvement we could make at that time. Having a stud in the middle and requiring less help from the guards would allow them to play better as well. Better running game, better clock control, finishing games, letting defense rest, etc.

I'm just waiting for everyone to freak out if we go all Dallas in the 1st.
It may not be far fetched either if they have a center with a first round grade.

Couple of more signings with Haralson, McCown, and Ball.
We have 60 players and would have enough to carry what we usually carry at all the spots.
Center remains the biggest hole with no clear cut starter. After that we could use upgrades with a coverage linebacker, a legit #2 corner, and a wide receiver really for any role.
Looking to the draft we should try to get a WR, G, LB, and DT/NT to replace some of the high priced aging vets next year. A starting C should also be a target if we haven't signed one, and a CB should be looked at at some point.
So even if we do get all of those spots, that still leaves us with another pick so we are in pretty good shape.
