This also explains why we will cut Sproles and maybe Thomas.

The transaction hasn't occurred yet, so it's still will.

I'd like us to take a look at Ben Tate. His legs are still pretty fresh and he seems like he could be a good replacement for PT.

Donald Brown, DMac, Moreno, and MJD fit our system the best. Gerhart can potentially play FB for us. If we wanna go cheap and save cap room for other positions, it's probably better just to draft one in the middle rounds.

I think Tate will get paid more than PT did. He had an impressive season and has very low mileage.

i know he doesn't necessarily fit our system but I like James Starks.

I like Moreno too, I guess he rededicated himself because his game has gotten better.

Peyton Manning happened for him. If Moreno goes, they should go after Pierre Thomas.

Moreno is definitely impressive.

But I can't see us going after a FA RB unless it's a catching back to replace sproles.

I'm going total rantard homer here but if Jeremy Hill is still around in the fourth I would be so in. I know he's more of an Inrgam/Robinson type rather than Pt/Sproles but I think his value that late would be tough to pass up and he would immediately help depth wise. Please don't crucify me for my homerism.

Hill won't be there as he will be the 1st or 2nd RB taken in the draft

Yeah I think so too. Just throwing out an "if" scenario.

I can almost guarantee the Saints won't pickup a FA RB unless it's for dirt cheap right before camp. And they won't draft one - at least until the 5th.

Our best RBs are always rookie FAs. Pierre, Ivory, Robinson...

The drafted ones tend to suck. Bum from Ohio St., Bush (doesn't suck but not worth the draft pick), Ingram, etc.

RB is a devalued position. No smart team will pay top dollar for a RB. Adrian Peterson is overpaid. His impact on the game isn't worth his price. No RB is. The current formula is you either have a bad arse QB, a QB who gets red hot in the playoffs, or a good QB with a great D.

Lynch is great but was a non-factor in the SB.

The Saints imo will use Robinson/Ingram as the main ball carriers and if they keep Pierre, will use him as a third-down back. They'll likely bring in competition for Cadet either through rookie FAs or maybe very late in the draft.

The running back position is a dying breed especially when qbs now are running backs. Teams now know are you need to win is draft thugs that hold players on every play and qbs that manage the game with there legs and receivers that are fast.

Is this hyperbole or are you actually insinuating that the running back position will no longer exist?

Sucks to be a tailback in the current era.
