Why was Andre pulled after making 3 straight nothing but net 3's?

It baffles me how Johnny Jones thinks and this is not the first time for him to do this. WTF was he thinking? Gaines didn't come out the game after he drained his third straight 3. This game could have been one for the ages had Johnny left Andre in.

I posted this at the time in the game thread.

It is not the first time CJJ has sit the hot hand. It makes no sense whatsoever. Especially today since Dre was 3 of 4 and his only miss was one that rolled inside the rim and somehow jumped out. The rest of the team wasn't doing jack.

Slow down. That had no bearing on the outcome. And FYI, stringer was guarding Gaines when he kept draining it. Maybe he was trying to get just a little defense in there

For the ages? No

Stringer played ton of minutes. they play six players. One of them has to be on the bench at all times

There is no rule that says Stringer had to guard Gaines FYI. You Johnnys cousin? It had no bearing on the game? Bull shite. We will never know because our low key coach didn't let it play out. When a player is that hot you NEVER take him out.

Jones made what he thought was the best decision at the time. Turned out he was wrong. It happens. FWIW, I would've kept Andre in the game. I'm not gonna put the loss on Jones for pulling him though.

Sit him later...don't sit him when he's the only guy that's hot. Plus it was senior day...I'm sure he had a little extra juice.

Believe me, I have been very critical of CJJ this year, but I think it was the right move. UGA was posting up and shooting over LSU's guards early on. You hated to sit the hot hand, but he had to do something to stop that part of UGA's offense. It was a tough spot for CJJ.

He had played 7 mins of basketball and like most humans needs a blow. If your the blowhard from Sec 106 dropping F Bombs and trying to convince the world JJ was the worst coach in the history of the sport..........

Andre was pulled because he wasn't able to guard Gaines on the perimeter. He was hot and wanted to put a taller guard on him.

Players need a blow, I think most people would understand that.

The issue I have is that Stringer was lights on right then, had his stroke going and was our only offense really. Truth be told, he should have been 4 of 4 from 3 at that point. CJJ takes him out.

The score stays around 21-18, 21-20 for about 4 minutes afterwards. In the 2nd half, Stringer drives, gets fouled, hits 2 of 2 and subsequently comes out the game.

Earlier in the season, Martin was playing physical (for a change) goes to rim and gets fouled. Hits 2 of 2 and then CJJ sits him. It just doesn't make sense.

Especially from a team that plays so inconsistently. It's not like CJJ has shown this mastery of substitution and offense and defensive coaching.

Again, I understand that, but it doesn't make sense at the time. Stringer was keeping us in the game.

You take him out, put TQ in and LSU scores 1 basket in the next 4 minutes. Gaines drained 3's over Stringer, Hickey, Coleman and TQ.

Geez if we started benching players for not guarding people this game and this year we'd be playing ODO, Malone, Hammink and two walk-ons.

Cause it's a team-wide epidemic and a team problem. Switching, rotating, improper technique, not blocking out, and yes the poor communication we read about after every game from the players and coaches.

That substitution did not cost us the game. We were two down at half for Pete's sake.

The kids didn't ever totally buy in to what CJJ was selling this year and that IMHO is the biggest issue, all other things are symptoms.

My hope is lessons learned, talent keeps improving and this is a blip on the radar not a trend.

To me, this is the worst loss of the season. Not because it happened today, but because we finally get a road win against Vandy, playing in BR on SR day with the SEC 6th seed on the line. IMO you go all out for this game and try to carry that momentum into the SECT.

Instead, UGA players and coaches clearly desired to put their effort into winning this game more.

Georgia was more prepared and motivated than us today. No doubt, bottom line.

Onc can talk about the limitations of whatever player one wants to, but that was the difference today and has been in too many of the important games we've played this year.

This was worse than the RI loss, and that's quite the statement this team made today. Win out from here, and feel the glory!
