As a freshman he was great, one of the 3 weekend starters, leaders in innings pitched, etc.
Each season since, his innings pitched has shrunk in half. Did he get into PM's dog house? Was he hurt? Or has the pitching staff just gotten a lot stronger?

I wouldn't say he was GREAT as a freshman. He earned a starting role because we didn't have the talent on the pitching depth chart then to beat him out. He often got hammered late in games his freshman year. I believe he was injured to start last season and was passed by better, more talented pitchers. He's best suited as a long relief type of guy coming out of the bullpen. He will be much needed to pitch some big innings if we make it deep into regionals/supers.

The last two. PM has given him ample opportunities.

Thanks for the response. It's just weird when players go from starting as a freshman to hardly playing. You'd like to think they would improve each year they are here

He wasn't great but he was really good. He was pitching on Friday nights on a staff that had Gausman.

Injury plus the incoming arms have been upgrades. He hasn't gotten worse, everyone else have improved.

we just know he can start, and on a staff which already has Nola, Glenn, Poche, Bouman, McCune gives us the deepest starting staff in the nation

Better talent on the mound has come in, and he has gotten worse, and frankly, just isn't a good pitcher.

He was a two pitch guy with nothing special. Guys like that get figured out fast in college. Apparently he's added a splitter. I couldn't tell that from watching, but they said so on the Geaux Zone telecast. He has been impressive this year.

This pitching staff is looking very formidable for post season. We'll take so e lumps with our third and fourth starters, but by tourny time CPM will go to war with NOLA and Poche starting all the big games, Bugg and Broussard handling the last two innings, and McCune and Glenn or Bouman for middle relief. When we need a third starter it will be the other of Glen/Bouman. There's a chance another young guy will emerge. Brady Domangue seems to be a guy who could settle in. CPM also has the luxury of a lot of situational pitchers.

I'm a McCune fan and I say he will help us out this year. Here's to you Kurt...

They call it a splitter but I don't think he throws it very hard. It's basically a changeup.

if LSU is going to make a run this year in Regionals and CWS, they are going to need all these pitchers to start at least one game.

He was good, possibly very good, as a freshman but I wouldn't call him great. If he didn't outpitch Gausman he was at least his equal.

He's going to play a valuable role in 2014.
