Has anyone ever been to the Tabernacle in Atlanta?

Going there in April. How is the Venue and the street it's located on (bars, parking, and such)? It reminds me of the Ryman Auditorium.

Great venue. I saw Jeff Beck and Willy Porter there many years ago. Plenty of hotels in the area and a few restaurants but not an overabundance best I can remember. We stayed at a hotel nearby and walked to dinner before the show and then to the show itself. So I have no idea what parking is like.

IMO one of the best venues in the country. Will be there on Tuesday to see Broken Bells. It's across the street from Phillips Arena, CNN Center, and Centennial Park so there's quite a few hotels around it. There's a parking deck at the CNN Center. It's normally $20 if there's an event going on but I've parked there for free before. Hudson Grille is the only bar that I know of in walking distance and there a pretty good BBQ restaurant called Smoke Ring right up the street.

It's awesome.

I guess they fixed the floor? Panic! broke it last month.

Love the Tabernacle. Usually grab a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants (Ted Turner eats at the Ted's right across the street) and just drink once we get in.

That place is phenomenal, I saw Metallica there in 2002 and ten years to the date, with the same group of friends I saw Steel Panther there in 2012. Literally not a bad seat in the house. We stayed at the Holiday Inn right next to the place each time.

Saw Tame Impala there in June and it was the tits. Plenty of parking around the area. Ate and drank at a place called Sidebar that was in walking distance before.

Stood on the floor but if I went again I'd probably sit in the balcony.

I have some friends from that area who were born and raised there and the Tabernacle is one of their proudest establishments. I look forward to checking it out some day.

Who ya going to see? I went to Trey anastasio (first show back after the floor collapsed) and moe recently. My favorite venue in Atlanta. Try to get there as often as possible. First balcony is my favorite but a lot of times they have the middle blocked off for VIP.

Alter Bridge is headlining there April 19. They have played there in the past, but they were the opening act. They rarely headline shows in the U.S. in a venue like this, so I am excited.

Yep. From their Facebook on Feb. 10th:
quote:

City officials have inspected the venue and determined there was no structural failure of the floor system. Our subsequent investigation of the building shows areas that require additional attention to insure the ongoing integrity of the building for many years to come. We are working to prepare the venue for our upcoming shows this weekend.

They resumed concerts on the 14th.

I was keeping up with that a bit...Panic! is one of my favorites.

The floor story sounded pretty scary, but I'm glad they have it under control.
