How overrated is the last second shot in basketball?

It's nothing more than luck. A guy launches a prayer and it happens to go in and it is immediately #1 on plays of the week/day.
It's not like it's even rare anymore.

Overrated by who? Sportscenter?
Maybe some random top 10 may play it too much but don't watch if it bothers you.
I know if i made a last second shot i would think it's pretty fricking fantastic.

I'm confused as to how it's overrated. It's the potential game winning shot. Make it, go home a winner. Miss it, go home a loser.

the overrated part is MJ's mythical 100% shooting percentage. time has warped everyone mind into thinking hes never missed a shot.
its not luck. its a low percentage shot that everyone struggles with. even the amazing assassin kobe bean bryant

I mean Kobe is so clutch though, I swear Fisher never had any big shots...ever.

How the frick is it luck? Seems to be more of good skill rather than luck, unless the shot is longer than a half court shot.

Do you mean like a half court shot or something like that? If so, yeah thats mostly luck. But last second shots during NBA games were they run a play or isolate isn't luck at all.

Winthrop hit a pretty crazy one today in the Big South tourney
I am sure High Point feels good, winning the regular season title and losing in the quarterfinal on a desperation shot

I can only remember him missing one game winner, tbh.
And he got rim-robbed like a mug
