So bump to draw Delta experts. I am about to hit gold tomorrow. Figure I will be a plat by end of April because of my 15k MQMs from Reserve card. I figure it will take me until June to get to Diamond. Who here (Bacon/Golfer/other) is what status? Once I get there are there any other partner perks to consider besides the SPG crossovers? How can I leverage it for all it is worth?

You are hitting the MQD threshold too?

Yeah way over. First I have hit the 25k spending on the card already which is a waiver. I have also already hit the plat MQDs because the flights I have bought recently have been pricey. $1250 for my trip to Casper, WY this week.

Just seeing this? I got this over a month ago...

Quick scan on FlyerTalk reconfirmed that this looks like a pretty good move. Everything hinges on the availability of the lowest tier of points.

Maybe the day of Sky Pesos has passed................

Lynx I bumped this rather than start another thread. I actually should benefit because most of my tickets are purchased within 1-3 days of departure.

I am the same way. I should benefit from this dollar value approach and I hope Delta offers enough 25k flight redemption offers.

The redemption tool can't get worse, so there is only up from here.

Yup. I wish it went into effect this year. I've only had 8 segments this year. With these three trips, I've netted about 5,300 SkyMiles as a Silver. Next year it would have been over 8,000 miles. Buying tickets 1 week out now.

I am gold and will hit platinum only because my wife is diamond and she gifted me the gold status (part of diamond perk) which I then built on.

What will spending $20,000 a year with Delta get you?

You don't build on the MQM's when you are gifted. You still start at 0 MQM's each year (plus any rollover).

Well that blows...I guess I need to get a better understanding of the rewards program.
Oh well, I usually fly for leisure (about every 4 weeks) and my wife is usually with me, so I get bumped up most of the time and access the sky club as her guest.

Oh, and hats off to you guys that travel that much--I know it isn't easy. The better half usually comes home on Thursday nights exhausted and irritable.

Yea if you're gifted Gold and want to get to Plat, you'll need the 100 segments of 75k MQM's...the benefit of gifting Gold is you'll be Gold while earning and not have to schlep it as a general member or Silver like me now...

I like my schedule now. I'm on the road 2 or 3 days a week, three of the 4 weeks a month. And of those 3 weeks, only two of them are flying.
