For everyone saying fire Monty, before you jump the gun on saying that, remember this is the same guy that took the CP3 and nobodies to the playoffs and took the Lakers to 6 games. Look at the improvement of AD under him, I knew AD was good but not expecting him to be this good this early! Look at Ryan Anderson under him, borderline Star, when he was with the Majic everyone thought he reached his potential, Aminu is a defensive beast, though his offensive game needs lots of improvement but defense and rebounding is solid. Austin Rivers is way more confident than he was a year ago and that's credit to the HC for working with him. A healthy Pelicans team with a year playing together will do wonders for the YOUNG GUYS, they will continue to grow under Monty, Jrue, AD and Rhyno are building blocks, add a solid center with an offensive game to take pressure off AD an I see these guys competing with OKC in the west!! One more year guys if he fails then It is what it is.

I say we make him the coach permanently.

Permanent contract, unable to fire him. Partial ownership of the team. frick it, full ownership of the team.

AD: Was going to progress with a monkey coaching
RYNO: In his best orlando season, he shot 0.1% higher than this year, -1.6 3pt%, +1.2rpg, and played 4 minutes less. I.E. no improvement
Aminu: still sucks
Rivers: still horrible, just not as horrible

But in all seriousness, I say.give Monty another year with a healthy team and see how it goes. I believe he can lead this team to the playoffs. I know im in the minority on this

Count me there. It's pointless to argue it on this board, though.

No guns are being jumped. The primary complaints about Monty before this season were making bad decisions regarding player rotations, and doing a bad job of making adjustments, both in season and in game. Those problems have only gotten worse this season. Pretty much every improvement schematically/rotationwise has been forced on him by injury. The most recent change with Tyreke starting, or rather Benching Aminu and Stiemsma, seems to have coincided with finally throwing in the towel on the season. Monty made no postive changes this season that were not forced on him by external circumstances. He's not the guy, and the sooner we move on the better.

if you guy's are content with bottom 4 seed playoff appearances, I'm pretty sure Monty can get you there.

I rather be one of those top 4 seeded teams that are in the championship chase.

Do you understand how difficult it is to win a championship in the NBA? A championship or bust mentality is going to lead you to disappointment unless you are a bandwagon jumper or Lakers/Celtics/Heat fan.

I'm not disputing that we can make the playoffs with Monty and a fully healthy roster. If Monty doesn't get fired this offseason, I fully expect him to be here until there have been too many first round exits to survive. That's they way of coaching changes in the NBA. Which is another reason I want Monty gone now so we don't waste another 2-3 years with a coach that's "just a guy".

33/7/14/4
27/13/15

BTW, the Lakers got SWEPT in the next round by the Mavs.
