The Face Behind Bitcoin
Satoshi Nakamoto stands at the end of his sunbaked driveway looking timorous. And annoyed.
He's wearing a rumpled T-shirt, old blue jeans and white gym socks, without shoes, like he has left the house in a hurry. His hair is unkempt, and he has the thousand-mile stare of someone who has gone weeks without sleep.
He stands not with defiance, but with the slackness of a person who has waged battle for a long time and now faces a grave loss.
Two police officers from the Temple City, Calif., sheriff's department flank him, looking puzzled. "So, what is it you want to ask this man about?" one of them asks me. "He thinks if he talks to you he's going to get into trouble."

Btw, its also interesting that according to the article he used to work for the federal government. Sounds like he was doing NSA type work.

Well this is unfortunate and so unnecessary.

What is unfortunate? And what is unnecessary?
I guess you can change your sig now since it's known now.

That he has to change his sig quote.

Well he should have not used his real name. Duh

Funnily enough, he is Satoshi Nakamoto.

That's what really cracked me up when reading the article. You have all these pseudo-intellects running around trying to decipher "what it all means" and turns out

a 64-year-old Japanese-American man whose name really is Satoshi Nakamoto.

For someone who has spent his entire life attempting to remain anonymous you would think he would of tried a little harder with the whole name thing. I see he changed his name multiple times, but always left Satoshi Nakamoto in it in some form.
Great article, would love to read a book about his life, but that doesn't seem very likely to happen.

Yea, but still, the invention being his doesn't matter. All this story serves is to turn his life into something he didn't want

I suspect it would be pretty boring.
He just kind of seems like a really smart guy with social anxiety disorder who has alienated the world, including most of his family.
Then again, maybe he's not all that smart. You'd think he'd find some way to cash out his bitcoin without drawing attention to himself.

This is the response I expected from you. Exactly.

He will get some unwanted attention, but it's not like the national media is going to camp out on his front lawn.
This guy isn't really all that interesting. And his brother seems to be right, he seems like a bit of an a-hole.

What does this guy gain from creating bitcoin? Anything?

According to the article, he just loved technology, particularly programming and leaned anti-government and banking. I doubt he thought he would get rich off of this.

well he is at the top of the Ponzi scheme so he will do quite well. Estimates are that he is worth around $400mm
