Not defending guys trying to hook up with minors if they are. But is this the wording now? Everything gets lumped in Sex Trafficking? Cause when I hear the term I'm thinking guys with dungeons full of woman getting busted. Not johns trying to solicite a prostitute or an escort service.

Eta:sorry my shitty link doesn't work from my phone.

I think the same way that you do, and lumping willing prostitutes and Johns, in with girls who are kidnapped and forced into slavery, acts as a desensitizing mechanism, as far as the public is concerned.

"Trafficking" does not imply force. The definition of trafficking is deal or trade in something illegal.

Is a drug trafficker being forced to smuggle drugs? In most cases, no.

However, I agree that calling a bust on a whorehouse in Lafayette that nets nine arrests is a little excessive.

Don't ever pay for sex.

There are plenty of homely chicks giving it away for free.

Besides, most prostitutes aren't attractive in the first place.

While you're not wrong, I do think there are a lot of prostitutes that are not doing it willingly. One way or another they are being forced in to what they do and they would absolutely be part of the huge worldwide problem that is sex trafficking. Just because on the surface it seems they are making the choice to sell their bodies, it's often times not the case. The same goes for a lot of massage parlors, brothels, etc...

I'm not working two jobs willingly, I'm doing it because I kind of fricked up in college and until I get far enough in my career to earn the cash to live my life, I need two jobs.

Is that being forced against my will?

Its all about funding...the feds give grants to locals for funding to combat human trafficing so when they make busts like this and call them "human trafficing" stings, it allows them to ask for more $$ the following year from the feds.

Its the same for "SWAT" raids, all these locals get federal dollars for "SWAT" teams and the more they use them, the more $$ they can apply for and get to float budgets.

In the grand scheme of things, all it does it entice law enforcement to side with the bill payer (Uncle Same) when the feds want/need something.

This. Homeland Security was involved in the bust.

No but you are doing so willingly. You have the choice to not work. A lot of these girls don't have the choice. A lot of them do. That's just the reality of the situation.

The Feds don't arbitrarily funds stings. They were trafficking in workers from other states to increase the supply for Mardi Gras. The story says they did the same for the NBA All-Star game. When you cross state lines the Feds get involved.

They were'nt 'trafficking' shite. The working girls probably came here on their own because there was a lot of work to be had during these times. The term 'trafficking' is used way to often in these cases. I know 'Taken' was a great movie and all, but that shite is by far the exception and not the norm.
