Need a new smart phone, but not an Apple product

My iphone has died. I need the OT's recommendation on the best option that is NOT an Apple product. I'm done with Apple. Is the Droid a decent option? Something else?

What phone did you have? How old was it? What do you mean by "died"? Droid isn't a phone. Get a galaxy if you follow the crowds or an HTC One if you want a good phone.

New HTC One is coming out. Also the Samsung Galaxy S5 is almost here (or is here). Both are solid options and surpass what's currently on the market. If you can wait a month for the HTC One or get yourself on the pre-order list for the Galaxy S5, that's my suggestion. Maybe get something cheap til then to keep you in the loop.

I had an Iphone 4s. It doesn't hold a charge more than 4 hours, is cracked, and I just hate Apple as a company. I displayed poor judgement in the past by getting caught up in the Apple hype, but have realized that I'm not the Apple target demographic. I need something that's rugged, holds a charge, is fast, and has decent aps.
