Lost is definitely a flawed show, but I found it to be an enjoyable and somewhat addicting watch. I can't believe people would actually prefer The Following to it.
Mad Men is the class of this group IMO though.

you should just scratch The Following off the list. It fricking sucks, bad.
Never watched lost, so can't comment on that one.
My list from the rest would be:
1)HOC
2)Mad Men
3)Bates Motel
i personally like Mad Men the best out of those, but starting fresh, HOC is much easier to get in to.

House of Cards + Mad Men are tossups for me. Both are incredibly well-written, acted and directed shows that you should watch.
Never seen Bates. Looks stupid.
Never seen Lost, but my opinion would most likely be that it was good as it aired, but not worth the investment of time to start fresh.

don't waste your time with lost. It is super addicting but it doesn't live up to the pain-off it created for itself. Lost fan boys will tell you the last season is genius but frick them.

I think i'm going to start with HoC since it's the shorter of the two, kinda get through it quick. Then follow it with mad Men and then Bates motel.
