What ever happened to the ultralight craze?

We use to have a runway right here on airline by barringer and shite was sweet to watch these things go...and now i dont remember the last time ive seen one...

The accidents did them in from what I remember. Powered parachutes somewhat took their place, as they were generally safer. Because of the small runway requirements of the powered parachutes I think many of their owners just use their own land.
