Roku's new device is about the size of a USB flash drive, comes with a remote, and can run over 1,200 apps. Google should be worried.

I will probably buy one of these when I start moving around after school and give my old Roku to my parents.

What's nice is you can use the chrome cast to stream chrome onto your tv. So shows I can't get on Netflix I just stream online

Someone explain how this works. Just talk to me like you are explaining it to your Grandmother. TIA.

Well luckily it wasn't too much money. I bought it for the streaming website feature. Was tough to setup and doesn't work when you go to full screen mode in the browser. I use my roku and Apple TV quite a bit though.

This new device should sell very well IMO.

I stick with my handy HDMI cable and laptop.

Been without cable for about a year and a half now. Never looking back.

It is an HDMI stick that essentially converts your plain old HD TV into a smart tv that allows you to stream from various popular apps (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, WatchESPN, etc.) and allows you to mirror on your tv content playing on your mobile device.

Me too. I thought I would be able to stream from free streaming sites such as Coke and Popcorn. Only reason I bought it.

Not really, since Google opened up the SDK Chromecast will take off soon enough.

My phones ROM already has a built in "Cast Screen" option and I can cast my phone screen to my TV meaning I can cast anything at all on my screen from movies, games, apps, shows, etc.

You can also root your Chromecast and install a custom ROM.

The development community for Android/Google is too large, but good try and effort Roku.

Oh, I know. I have a Roku2XS (I think). I love it. Though, honestly, I pretty much only use it for Netflix. I stream some older shows or movies I have downloaded sometimes through Plex.

use an android app called allcast to command your chromecast. It stream your music, pictures, etc. to your TV besides your movies etc.

It is already on the roku, though most ISPs (or ESPN itself) try to limit your access if you don't also subscribe to the cable channel. There are often work arounds though.
