Have any of yall done this? From reading, I just need to wash the thing and spray Revivex on it, then dry. Are there any other products I should look at? Mixed results? Breathable?

I have a 10yr old OG Duck Commander jacket that soaks through in a heavy rain at about the 15 minute mark and since it is still in good shape other than that, I'd like to get it waterproof again. I also have two other jackets that could use a treatment. They are all Gore-tex or some other waterproof, breathable variant.

Eta: I also read about some stuff to use in the washing machine. Wouldn't that soak the inside of the jacket with waterproof stuff and make it less breathable?

Not pleased with results of NeverWet on my shoes, so I would avoid that one.

I'm interested in this as well. I have a 2-3 I wouldn't mind trying.

I don't think it breathes worth a shite. Since I have Gore-tex fabric(DWR), I am assuming a Gore-tex specific product would work much better

Eta: I have used neverwet and scotch guard on boots, and they just wore off after a solid walk

What you need is nikwax. It'll make your jacket like new.

It's a two step process that starts with using the techwash to completely clean and strip the fabric of oils that will prevent the new waterproofing from adhering.

Next is the tx.direct spray on. Don't use the wash in because it sounds like you have an insulating liner. All in all it will cost about $20 and it's amazing what'll do. It'll treat 5-6 jackets.

Depending on what forum I read, some say nikiwax makes the jacket much less breathable and slower to dry out, and some say it doesn't. I haven't really read much bad about the revivex yet though

Eta: There aren't any "liners" on my jackets. They all just have the standard polyester or whatever it is on the inside. The big jacket has a removable down liner

My Barbour requires a rubbed wax finish. Haven't needed to re-apply yet though.

Regarded as one of the best products for the task in my outdoor circles. Recommended by some of the jacket makers as well.

Anything that blocks incoming moisture is going to block outgoing moisture as well.

What was that product that was posted on here last year maybe?? It was a video of a liquid product that you sprayed on your items and made the basically waterproof.. Had a guy spray his gloves then stuck it in mud and water and pulled his give out and everything just slid off.. Was a pretty cool product.. I think it was pretty expensive though.. You could buy it by the 5 gallon bucket..

One more link I found apparently it's sold at home Depot for 20 dollars..

Edit: Disclaimer.. Just starting reading the reviews on amazon.. Don't get this product.. Apparently only works for a short period of time and not on everything as shown in the videos.. Oh well that sucks!

Went ahead and ordered this kit Revivex wash and spray from McNett. Seemed like a good deal and can waterproof four jackets with it.

After reading the reviews of Nikwax, it either doesn't work that well, or almost completely gets rid of breathability. Had more negative reviews than positive. I don't want to feel like I am wearing slickers, so that went out of the window. Only thing comparable to Revivex was the Granger stuff, and I couldn't find a kit, so I went with Revivex.

Will update when I get them done

Just did the Revivex wash and spray and this is the result. Pretty damn good beading after I squirted it with the hose for 30 seconds. Before, it would've completely soaked the jacket. Wash with cleaner, wash w/o, wash w/o, spray Revivex, throw in the dryer

Well see how it holds up
