I have an interview for a marketing position at the corporate office of a large southern retail store. Its on ash wednesday in the afternoon. Would it be unprofessional to show up with ashes on, or it is that big of deal that I should wait till tomorrow night to go to mass? Never had this problem before, thanks in advance for the advice. Happy Mardi Gras to all

Is it at Chick-fil-a?

If no, then I wouldn't. No reason to take attention away from your answers

Personally, I don't mix religion and work.

Go after the interview.
Just my $0.02.

Go after the interview. This is a no-brainer.

If the person interviewing you isn't Catholic, you may have to explain why you have a smudge on your forehead.

It's probably best to wait until after.

I would go after as well. Legally, it can't hurt or help you but I would just go to evening mass and not make it an issue.

Or you could go with the ashes and if you don't get the job, sue and profit.

Your faith is the No.1 thing of importance. Do not be ashamed of it. I personally would respect you for having ashes, but if you prefer to make it not an issue, then just go later.

there certainly is no shame. Good rules of an interview are to have the least distracting things about you during the questions. When there is a simple solution that allows you to have a distraction free interview while also being able to go to church afterwards, there is no reason why unless you are wanting to show your religion in the interview.

Considering that Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of Obligation, then you should go to church after. It's nice that you want to go to church, but God won't hate you if you can't make it. Go get the job.

Just because you choose an alternative solution by waiting does not mean you are ashamed of your religion.

Going with the ashes could scare them into hiring you with the way people sue over things nowadays.
