I'm going to be getting a Perception pescador 12 in the next few weeks, and I'm wondering what will be the best way to put it in my truck. I have a Toyota Tundra with a 6.5 foot bed, but it has a toolbox in it too. How do you guys with trucks pack your kayaks? Could I just strap it to my tie downs in the bed? I'll have it on the interstate some too if that matters.

Not an option. I'd strap it to the top of the cap before I bought a trailer

That looks solid. How long is that kayak? My toolbox makes my bed about 5 feet with the gate up so I'm worried about having too much hanging off the back.

Thanks for the help, but I don't have anywhere to store a trailer. If I did, I'd go that route because several of us are planning on going on some roadtrips with them.

I know you said you don't want a trailer but I've seen people make kayak hauler out of pop up campers. 4 on a pop up to be exact. look similar to this

can you see this? or no?

Nice. I'm going to try to get by without an extender if I can.

4 tie downs should do the trick.

Just strap it down and make sure it's tight. It won't go anywhere.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to plan on strapping it and see how that works. I hope I can at least get it back to my apartment like that

I do two straps to the front handle. One through the middle handle. One through the back handle.

I have that exact kayak. But I have an 8 ft bed and no toolbox. No problem for me.

You should be fine if you strap it right.
