I have a gas line in my fireplace but I burn wood.

Its a little more up keep but nothing smells better than a real wood fire and you can get real heat from it unlike gas logs...

I would need to take out a personal loan if I had a wood fireplace.

Why is that?

My guess would be that it's since his location says Colorado. They have a lot of rules about burning indoors.

I live in Colorado. We use our fireplace almost every day from November to April.

You need a permit just to harvest wood.

I like a real wood fire, but for convenience, I prefer gas. No cleanup required and easier to start/stop.

Love my wood fireplace, but sometimes it would be nice to just turn on a gas fire real quick. same way a gas grill is alot more convienent, but a charcoal grill tastes better IMO.

Gas with wood. You can burn bigger logs and not have to worry about babysitting the fire all night

Very easy around here, free too. I'm only minutes away most of the time as well.

To answer the OP....wood.

Yeah, I would see where that would definitely cost some money.

I use my stove as much but it hasn't cost me much. Mostly time but with two people working it is well worth not paying a higher electricity bill.
