Keep in mind that this is a completely hypothetical scenario. I just want to get your thoughts on this. Here we go:
It's all but official that we will use the tag on Jimmy. Let's assume it's the non-exclusive tag. Atlanta's front office goes full retard and decides, in the wake of losing Tony G to retirement, to go after Jimmy instead of addressing their O-line or D-line. They sign him and we get 2 first round picks, including this year's #6 overall pick. How would y'all feel about this?

I hate it. Loomis sucks arse and has no clue how to use our draft picks.

The Falcons would have to give us Julio Jones and 5 draft future 1st round picks for it to be even slightly okay with me.

I'd be ecstatic, but it wouldn't happen.

So if the cap is at 130 million, the Falcons will have 30 million in free cap space. (after we finish cutting players)
So you are willing to trade JG to your rival team who has the cap for him and to fill holes, and then have to defend Julio, Roddy, and JG?

Falcons won't do it cause we aren't giving up two 1st round pick for him, but damn that is some wierd logic.

It wouldn't be a trade. The Falcons would just sign Jimmy to a higher contract than the franchise tag and would then have to give the Saints 2 first rounders in compensation. Not a trade.

I'd do it, then use the spare cap space to sign Talib. Cya Jimmy

I actually like the sound of that. I doubt Talib wants to leave New England, but I still like it.

It was more just a counter to the idea of the Falcons having too many weapons in that situation. Talib held Jimmy to 0 for 0/0 this year so..

I agree with you though.

Then trade both first round picks this year to Houston for #1 overall pick and take Clownley.

I would love to get two first round picks that we could pay less money and help with the cap. We could get a stud CB and WR, plus there are some really good TE in this years draft that can be had in the late second round.

I love JG, but overpaying for him will hurt the Saints as much as overpaying for Brees. At some point, the fans need to realize you can't keep paying top dollar for every starter.
