Hotel is on the river side of St. Charles and were going to the extravaganza. Likely going to walk to the dome.

- about what time does the parade get to poydras and st charles?

- if the parade is there, can we cross? I know they've gotten more strict about barricade hopping.

I know we could cab it but having to go around the parade in a cab seems more difficult.

parade usually gets there late. Like 9:30-10pm or so from my experiences. There will be barricades but you can find a place to cross if you look. Will be tough with the parade going on though.

I'm at the Hilton Riverside, give me a shout.

They're supposed to start rolling at 4:15 but Endymion always seems to run late. I'd say you'll get the beginning around 7:45ish, maybe later.

Where are ya'll in relation to Lee Circle? It's probably easier to cross somewhere other than Poydras (Julia maybe?).

Yeah right.

Yea. We'll probably cross around 7:30 but there are girls getting ready with us too so just want to have a plan.

Tell them you are leaving at 5. 2.5 hours of leeway should be enough time for even the slowest skank to get ready

I don't know how it will be at St Charles and Poydras, but a few years ago I tried crossing at Canal and Jeff Davis and it was like trying to penetrate the Atlantic Wall on D-day with all the people and ladders. If Hitler had had that set up on Omaha beach, the Americans would never have made it across the beach.

They usually have the barricades set up to allow pedestrian crossing there. They open it periodically at breaks in the parades. At least that's what they have done in the past.

At the median of Poydrass and St Charles the NOPD will let anyone with tickets pass when the parade stops.

Thanks. I figured there was something setup. Just didn't want to ride the buses from the Hilton.

Lugging two wheeled ice chests and a bag full of snacks in a tix and girls in formal dresses? Yea. I actually do need to figure out the easiest crossing point ahead of time.

If you're crossing to head to the Extravaganza when the parade is already passing that far on Canal/St Charles, you'll miss half the parade in the dome.

We watched it last year right before it gets to that tunnel by the dome. It got there after 8:30 for sure.

I was more concerned about when they close the barricades off there but it sounds like that won't be an issue at anytime.

Any other time I've gone we were coming from Claiborne so it wasn't an issue.

not a chance it gets there that late. it gets to the ball about 830-9, takes about 2 hours to get through. Carrie Underwood comes on at 11 til 1.

It frequently doesn't get to poydras and St. Charles until 830-9ish. Just depends. I think last year was probably the quickest I've ever seen it.
