re: BC All Time leading WR decides to pursue becoming a NAVY SEALPosted by Thib-a-doe Tiger on 2/27/14 at 3:37 pm to cas4t
Good question. I know you can now go straight into a Navy SEAL 'try-out' without being an actual Navy man.
Eta you obviously have to join the NAVY, but I've heard you can join and immediately go into BUD/S. I shouldn't have said 'know'.

I would be surprised if this is true. Otherwise they would have every small town hero trying this.

It ain't. They all go to regular navy boot first.

I imagine that would be after navy boot and some service time, right?
Probably, but boot camp for a D1 athlete wouldn't be an issue at all. He could pass all their requirements right now

Navy boot is notoriously weak.
Oh yea, probably not.
They occasionally let civilians train with them I think though. I know Tiger Woods used to do it. But no I doubt they just let citizens jump into the full on Navy Seal boot camp, people would probably die

Maybe so, but that's not the case with NSWPS and BUD/S orientation.

Clearly. That's why it's probably just a frustration for those guys to have to go and put up with that crap.

After seeing some of my friends that went through army and reserve boot camp, I honestly feel like it wouldn't be difficult. I'm 100% positive I could beat one of my friends in any kind of physical exertion test and he made it through, and he's not a mentally tough dude either

You sign your contract with the intention of being an SO. You don't become a BM anymore and then do BUDS. You go to a special 800 division at boot camp that has all spec war prospects in it. Then you stay in Chicago for a whole and go to pre-BUDS while you wait your turn to be sent to San Diego. This route of course is through the enlisted side not officer route. Has this guy been accepted to OCS?
