Would this be considered an improvement over Jenkins?

Well it deserves it's own thread in my opinion.

Didn't someone call this a week or so ago that we'd bring him in? I forget the thread, but someone who claimed to have insider knowledge said we'd do exactly this.

Interesting.

Only problem with Delmas is that knee. Its degenerative, or so they say. Which means it'll never be completely well, just well enough for him still play, but it'll continue to be a problem for him. Far as his play is concerned, he's already what you'd want Calvin Pryor to come in and be. Pretty much the same size and everything.

Man if they sign him it lowers the chance of them drafting Calvin Pryor.

Not IMO. Adds depth, that's about it...Until he pulls a hammy in spring and is put on the PUP, then eventually IR.

If we sign him, it'll just be correcting a mistake.

If we draft someone, it'll just be correcting a mistake.

I like Pryor and all but he's a SS and I don't want Vaccaro to play free

Ryan likes to you use a lot of 3 safety formations. He did it early on with Harper/Jenkins/Vacarro and later with Bush/Jenkins/Vacarro. We need to replace both Harper and Jenkins, so I don't think signing a guy like Delmas eliminates the chance at a player like Pryor if he is available. Also, the Saints traditionally have carried 4 safeties since Payton's been the HC.

I think if he comes in at a value (and his injury-plagued past may just give us that), then he's definitely worth it on a team-friendly contract.

A rotation of Vaccaro, Delmas and Bush would be legit, and pick up another person in the draft.
