A new CC piece - M&P9c

Initial impressions:

1. SR9c feels a little better in the hand.

2. Trigger is bad but feels like a Shield trigger - the reset is definitely better. They must be putting these newer triggers in all the M&Ps.

3. This will probably get an Apex like my CORE.

4. Magazine holds 2 more rounds than my SR9c (12 vs 10)

5. Has a single-spring guide rod (the SR9c and CM9 both have dual spring guide rods)

Full evaluation and review video to come later...

I have a M&P 9c also. Love the gun, it's a graet shooter, but it's a bit big to conceal. I've been looking at the CM9 fo4r a carry gun.

I think in the long run, that'll be the case. I can tell the M&P is built a little bit better but the SR9c is a great value. Both are excellent pistols.

For a single stack 9, it's perfect for my use. It's slightly smaller than a Shield but both accomplish the same task if carried IWB.

you'll get used to carrying it. i carried it at 3:00 with that IWB and could conceal it great, even in summer time clothes.

now i carry a G19 everyday so the m&p feels super easy to conceal

If your love of Glocks means I'll keep getting things you don't want, have at it hoss.

I can tell I'm gonna like carrying it. It's virtually dimensionally identical to my SR9c and I liked carrying that guy.

Cool, can't wait for your review. I'm looking at both of those pistols MP 9c, SR9C and the CZ P01 compact.

My plan is to do a bit of shooting and do a comparison of the M&P compact and the SR9 compact. I'll be doing a full review of the M&P compact after I get the Apex trigger kit installed. Stay tuned, buddy.

I actually purchased it from Tiddles McTiddles up there^. I know him personally (before I became an OB legend ).

But I suggested he buy it from Barneys in Lafayette. Their price over there is in the neighborhood of $430-$440 IIRC. He'll chime in soon to mention where he purchased it.

Note that his gun did not come with 17-rd mags or the grip adapters.

OK, thanks- I didn't know what thanks Mcdiddles meant). What's with the stippled grips these days? I see where people have been doing that (grip and frame) to these M&P's. Is the stock grip not rough enough for a firm grip or is it just a personal preference?

Are you going to install the apex trigger kit yourself? I believe I read you did that to your other M&P. Was it a complex conversion? The apex trigger kit has great reviews and the stock trigger on the M&P's seems to be the only or most talked about gripe.

Anyway, I'm about to pull the trigger (pun) on a new handgun and I am looking at compact models. SR9C, MP 9C and a CZ 75 Compact/P01 . I know the CZ has a metal frame is considerably heavier than the other two but I don't think the extra weight will bother me. I will not carry everyday as I work from home and for the most part would not need to CC. Will bring in the truck with me and carry some but mostly will be a home/truck/Range with some CC involved. That is a reason I like the MP and Ruger's ability to have the extended mags. The CZ is set at 14, I think the full size (17-19 rd)CZ mags will fit the Compact/P01 but there is no grip extension for them that I am aware off.

Anyway, appreciate all of your reviews and sharing your thoughts. Have a good day !
