I am linking to articles I found from outdoor Alabama that discuss a new shooting system called TrackPoint. SpVerry similar to what military uses with snipers.

TrackPoint Shooting System for Hunting

Like military aircraft, the PGF system provides shooters with a shooting solution for the intended target, and when the depressing the guided trigger, the firearm will fire when it is optimally aligned with the tagged item. This “lock-and-launch” technology is ruffling some feathers among more traditional shooters, but others are optimistic that the system will allow for more ethical, well-placed shots - See more at: https://www.griffinsguide.com/content/2013/05/19/the-rifle-that-cant-miss-an-ethical-sporting-rifle/?utm_source=underContent&utm_medium=topAllTime&utm_campaign=eRegulations#sthash.R7uKbDmF.dpuf

Why wouldn't you just buy some meat from a real hunter? There is absolutely nothing involved in getting put on a box stand and shooting a 180 class deer with that

It is useful for eradication of hogs though. You can't ever kill enough of them sum bitches

City folk don't GAF. They're happy to hunt on game preserves.

I wouldn't use it. But I'd rather some of these idiots use it and actually kill the damned things than just wound them. Ethics of hunting are a personal thing. Some people think anything short of a hand made bow with hand made arrows with heads you knapped yourself is easy mode. And well, compared to them, yeah, they're right. But so what?

Not hunting related, but where I fish the locals could care less about limits. A friend said he a 3 guys came back with 150+ specks on one trip, wanted me to come. I declined.

Hog Hunting from helicopters using the track point system

this is cool and would allow for better/more effective population control of hogs, but do think it takes away from "hunting"

I agree, I would t use it for deer hunting or any type of big game hunting.

It is cool though, and for certain circumstances would be useful. Like the hog hunting from the helicopter.

The responses so far are what I expected from most of the OB.

Yep, that is a good choice , I was watching some YouTube videos and it is quite the shooting system. I read it cost @$30k LOL. comes with an iPad that has all the apps and instructional videos . I think it would be neat to shoot, more of a novelty for me but cool nonetheless .

I'm sure they said the same thing when the scope was invented.

I wouldn't use it, and I will ridicule anybody who does. I'm sure everybody will be using guided bullets in a few decades though.

They won't be for long. All the pieces of this are cheap other than the software package and that will be cheap soon enough.

The way you guys are looking down your noses at this new technology is making me
A rifle hunter bitching about removing "skill" from hunting is like a commercial fisherman bitching about someone using dynamite. There was never much skill in the first place.

If you valued hunting skills and shot placement skills at all you would bowhunt.
