Great that they came out and whatever.
But good lord the 24/7 coverage is terrible. "Jason Collins enters the game" (breaking news).

Enough already....and yes it has made me completely turn off all the sports channels for a while.

Blast me....I know its coming anyway. But I cant be the only one?

The obvious solution is to start a thread about it to discuss it further.

I think it's funny that most of the conversations regarding these issues are started by and continued by people who are "tired of hearing about it". Like this thread...

I do blame the media for why there are less openly gay athletes nowadays.

I doubt a lot of teams would give two shits about having a gay guy on their team if the media didn't turn into such a distraction.

As much as Michael Sam doesn't want to say it, he is now an activist. Whatever team drafts him is going to get asked questions constantly.

What I am scared is about Sam is that if he ISNT drafted.....I see it turning into a bigger issue. Which is what the media is waiting for.

Lets sue someone...anyone for discrimination. Its coming!

You're tired of it, yet want to talk about it more?

Wasn't Sam about a 5th round prospect anyway? Him doing this now could indeed see him going undrafted.

Well he did get the most combine coverage for a possible 5th rounder ever

It was similar to the start of the NBA season when no one signed Jason Collins. Instead of realizing he is a washed up big, who can't really give you anything besides being a big body. The reason he didn't get signed was because he was gay.

OP slightly dropped the ball, even though I agree with everything he stated, by creating a thread; but you cannot say with a straight face that MOST of the conversations regarding this issue are initiated by disinterested/neutral persons who are tired of hearing about it. Unless you mean specifically on this site, which could be the case. I don't venture over to the MSB too often.

It's being drilled into the heads of members of the general public by the media and sports fans still barely care. I haven't even discussed it with anybody in person (ever, at all) because nobody cares. At least not the sports fans where I'm from.

It honestly wouldnt surprise me that Brooklyn ONLY signed him because he was gay....to pull the media from the Knicks.

So Collins was the ONLY big man avail? Or was he the one that could pull the media and create a story about them....and make Brooklyn the "good guys"?

Just wondering......

I didn't know "the game" was another term for a man's butthole.

The Knicks fricking suck so the Nets would love the media to cover and make fun of them.
