How high do ya'll think Ra'Shede Hageman will go in the draft?

He's that big tall DT from Minnesota who can play inside and outside on the line. Had a great combine and measured in at 6'6" 310. His natural playing weight is closer to 320. Possible second round pick?

He's the best DT in the draft.

Jets, steelers, ravens or niners will get him

They can get Kony Ealy in the 3rd. Overlooked because of Sams, but just as impressive as Hageman potentially and physique wise, and he played in the SEC.

Ealy will be a first round pick, possibly top 15.

yeah, I see that now. His combine was off the charts. He is long and has a frame to add more weight. Will be strong as a pass rusher in a 3-4.

the big boards are just starting to get any consensus post Combine. Surveying a few Hageman is at 28, 49, 22, 26

Size wise and athletically hes off the charts. Then you put on the game tape and he leaves a lot to be desired. He never was a dominant force that you think someone that size and athletic would be. Wasnt horrible though.
And he started his college career at TE. Then moved to the DL. Hes very raw. Needs a lot of work on his technique and pass rushing moves. And needs to get better using his hands. And becoming more active with them. And, like most taller guys, has a tendency to play too high. And a little inconsistent.
Hes a freak though, and his potential is off the charts. His grade is most likely 2nd rounder, but someone will take him in the back end of the 1st. I wouldnt mind if we got him. If he improves his technique and pass rushing moves and starts using his hands more, hes got all the tools to be a monster in the NFL.
But I dont think hes the best DT in the class. That would be Aaron Donald.

That's right in our alley. He looks to have Akiem Hicks potential.

It seems to me that the Saints are very set on the D-line for now and won't be looking for anyone else, especially in the first two rounds.

I've been surprised at how many have us picking DT's and ILB's around here.
Did we time warp back a few years

ya, the DT picks make no sense to me...I guess ILB makes a little more sense because Hawthorne hasn't been too good and he's paid well, but we have a lot of guys and the Saints often play with 3 and even 2 LBs.

If he's one of the BPA, it doesn't hurt to add depth, especially with a guy who can potentially play inside and outside for us. I really want a good OT in the first round but there is a chance that there will be a run on 1st round caliber tackles before the 27th pick.

I've always believed in drafting BPA over drafting for need unless the gap between the two is very small. I'd rather count on a FA to fill an obvious void over hoping a rookie could step in and start immediately. Hageman can potentially play 3-4 DE as well as DT.

No doubt this FO picks the top rated guys on their board regardless of position.
This guy looks promising as well:
Aaron Donald DT Pitt 3-5 rnd
First-team All-American and first-team All-ACC selection. Was Outland Trophy, Chuck Bednarik AWard and Bronko Nagurski Award winner. 2012: First-team All-Big East selection. Led team with 5.5 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss. 2011: Second-team All-Big East after playing in all 13 games and making five starts. 2010: Played in all 13 games. Led the team with 11 sacks.

Aaron Donald doesn't fit our system and may have jumped all the way into the middle of the first round with his combine performance. A 4-3 team will likely snap him up.

I agree with you in general, but not as a first round pick when he won't see the field much and we have holes to fill.

...would not be surprised or unhappy if they took a T.
