So I happened into receiving one of these. I'm not all that tech savvy and was wondering if/how this could be used as a home desktop computer. Do I just need to buy a monitor? TIA

I use the apple mouse and keyboard on mine and they work just fine. I also got the Magic Trackpad as a gift but rarely use it.

I use mine ONLY as a music server in my high end audio rig though. Mine has Snow Leopard and an optical drive, and serves its purpose well.

Good little box.

yeah but i would install the latest max OS for desktops. lion i think. If it's compatible. if now look at install snow leopard. hell if it have an intel you can install windows 7 on it probably. how old is it?

What year is it?

Typically it's running the standard OSX on it with the server application running on it. You can just remove server if you wish.
