For the effort to receive review from the White House, the signatures of those 21 and older must be received within 30 days. Within a few hours, the petition already had more than 1,400 signatures Tuesday morning. More information on the effort can be found on Budweiser's website, Budweiser.com/openingday.

According to a release from Budweiser, a recent study found that 22.2 million Americans who are age 21 or older have admitted to skipping work or another commitment to attend or watch opening day.

As part of the effort, Budweiser is launching a campaign with digital ads on ESPN.com and MLB.com. Opening day this year is March 31.

I could get behind this.

a large portion of the country already treats it as such

Absolutely!

This would also make it that much easier to make the day after the Super Bowl a National Holiday as well.

I take a day of PTO on Opening Day. Have for the last 3 years and will be again this year.

I'd rather all the little one day holidays be condensed into a single long vacation block that businesses are required to give their workers.

They're up to about 3K already, I'd guess it'll get 100K rather easily.

Not to sound against it, but I would rather the first 2 days of the NCAA tournament be a national holiday. And I mean the first 2 REAL days. Not this play-in game bs.

This x 1,000.

Opening day is like early Christmas for me. I've made a tradition of getting beer and grilling hot dogs or sausage as my opening day celebratory meal.

For like the last 5 years, I stayed home and watched baseball all day anyway.

Well yeah, seems like that's most people if their research is correct between that and going to the games.
