Do you guys have many door-to-door sales kids come to your neighborhood? This afternoon some black kid knocked on my door and asked if I wanted to buy children's books. I said no thanks then he gave me a sob story about being an IU basketball player and was sent to Mobile to recruit (in the middle of the season) When he got down here they cut his scholarship and he needed money to catch a bus to Terre Haute. I told him I couldn't help and he started yelling that I was a racist and some other nonsense.

Most of these salespeople don't get too far until the cops show up. Almost all are arrested and ticketed for not having permits and most have bogus stories to solicit money.

Have any of you worked for one of these companies that drops kids off in neighborhoods? Where did you stay and how much money did you make. It seems sketchy as hell.

I sold newspaper subscriptions when I was 13-14 years old. We went door to door in apartment complexes. Some dude would take a crew of us around and we hit all the units. Made some money, learned some stuff (good and bad), and got a free trip to Six Flags out of it.

I have a "No Solicitors" sign at my front door. If you knock on my door peddeling shite you are berated unless of course its a child that doesn't read or understand the sign.

I always thought these would be great to sell door-to-door. Would sell itself.

Ive read crazy stories online of former teen magazine subscription salespeople. Basically alleging, among other things, withholding wages, forced sex, drugging, etc....Not sure how true but Ill see if I can find a link

In the past 6 months I've had 2 different black guys knock on my door and do the exact same comic routine to sell me some fricking cleaning fluid. I've also had several different (what looked to be meth heads) offer to top my trees.

Fwiw I have a no soliciting sign, but it might as well say, "nevermind! Knock anyway and peddle your shite."

This is not the same dude, but same shtick. And I did buy it the first time.

I actually put a small decorative trash can outside of my front door with a sign in it that says "please put sales/political literature here...believe it or not, they actually do it...I just empty it every few weeks...
