I was listening to the Baton Rouge radio the other day. They were talking to the Mayor of Zachary who said Zachary was looking into regulations about firing guns in the city limits. There apparently is conflict between new homeowners and old landowners. The new residents are not accustomed to hearing gunshots from hunting and the old landowners have always hunted and fired guns and they now find themselves in the city limits. There were thirty seven complaints to police about gunshots, which the Mayor thought were probably hunters. He said that the city was considering rules which would require landowners to have a certain acreage to fire guns. If you hunt in Zachary, you may want to look into what is going on there.

Hunted there last season on a rabbit hunt. And sure as shite the cops came out. To discharge a gun, one must be 500' away for homes in city limits. We were and cops were ok by this.

This is one of the reasons were I live that the City of New Roads has been trying to annex my place into city limits for over 15 years. Has been a fight to keep them away. Besides, all they want is more land taxes.

You would think they would be grandfathered in on this. You say they now find themselves in the city limits...that's not their fault and shouldn't have any affect on them. I don't know...it doesn't seem right that they could make a new law that would substantially change the way and places that people have hunted because the city basically came to the country through expansion.

I hear them all the time at the golf course and get complaints every time someone is shooting their gun in the woods surrounding. We get run away beagles from a guy chasing rabbits all the time as well.
