The E Coli poisoning pretty much cured any desire to attend a Sizzler buffet. Haven't been since.

Nope. The Acme Oyster House on Veterans was once a Sizzler. When I was a kid I loved the salad/potato bar. The Texas toast was the best.

We had a Western Sizzlin a long time ago.
It's now some Mongolian place. I think that's the name of it. Mongolian Place or Mongolian something or other.
Never been in it since it closed as Western Sizzlin. That was back in the early 90s.

Bonanza FTW.
Man, I was so ticked when the one here closed. I was living in Florida at the time but I'd be back for visits. They tore down the entire building. Now it's a damn Wendy's.
There was a Bonanza that was still open, believe it or not, until a couple years ago over in Sulphur.
Aside from my mom's, I really liked their chicken fried steak.

I don't live in Pearl, MS, but it is about 20 minutes away, so yes. Haven't eaten there though. New high end outlets just opened next to them and they got a new sign.... don't call it a comeback

A few still exist but mostly up the East coast. Some are Ponderosa Steakhouse. Bonanza was started by Dan Blocker who was "Hoss" on the series.

He died far too young. but many people do so. Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy were killed that same year.

Western Sizzler
If you are looking for a dining experience, I'm pretty sure there is a local restaurant in Meridian on the north side I-20/59 frontage road. It is close to the No-Tell-Motel and some defunct beer joint, about a block or two east of the McDonalds and 50 yards west of the car lot that uses the big Gorilla to advertise their used cars. I think his name is Big Monkey or something like that. I've never been there (Big Monkey's car lot or Sizzler), but there seems to be a crowd there most nights (at the Sizzler, not the car lot - I think they (car lot) are closed at 5:00 pm and I am always still at work then. I'm not upset about that, because even Big Moneys deserve to get off work at a decent hour.
Since some (you know who you are) may be interested, I almost never eat a steak out. My preferred steak place happens to grill their steaks on my patio. My preferred cut is a NY strip med rare to rare. As long as there is pink or red showing and it doesn't moo when the knife goes in, I am content. Haven't had Texas toast in years, but I was a big fan back in my White Loaf Bread days. How anyone would not be a fan of thick skillet buttered toast I can't imagine.
I will say that forty years back, we dined frequently at the Western Sizzler in Greenville, MS and at the one in Cleveland, MS. Back then, that was a big night out for us and the kids. If my memory is correct, I was a ribeye guy back then.

We use to eat at the one in Morgan City growing up. I don't know if it's still there. I went to visit some family there right after Christmas, and I was floored by how trashy it was. I hadn't been there in over a decade. Really sullied my childhood memories of the place.
I use to be all about that sizzler pineapple grilled chicken.
