see this is why Endymion is making us wear those damn ropes no matter if you are on the upper level or lower level.

Things are so freaking annoying

Well shite. I know in Jefferson Parish it is a set in stone rule that riders are tied down with a rope. I'm assuming it's probably that way in N.O.

Several years ago, Al Copeland fell off of one of his boats being pulled in a parade. I don't think he was hurt bad, but you would have thought it was the president who fell based on the quick response of the EMS and JP's.

Hope these folks end up doing ok. Hate for a person's mardi gras to get ruined by something like this.

Prayers for both casualties. Always wondered what keep more riders from falling.
Hope everything turns out well. Hate to hear about this at carnival time.

I rode on a truck float Mardi Gras a few years ago. No one had ropes.

Well, I think it is supposed to be. Maybe it's just for the Krewes. I agree, I've never seen the truck people tied off as that would be dumb and hard to enforce

Wasnt there someone last year or year before that fell, hit their head, and died?

I wore mine. However the rope could hook into the eyelet and the other side could hit the street. It's supposedly a city ordinance

yeah we have the damn fire marshalls come on the float to check and see if they are on.

This year is even stupider because before you get on the float you have to show them you are who you say you are, then have to sign a form that says you received a rope

Yeah. I saw that email. I'm wondering how much will actually happen though. What float you on?

Supposed to be enforced relatively tightly.

$975- Dues
$300- Throws

Total ~ 1300-1500/year

Depends on how many beads I need.

ETA: Usually have 13 bags of beads in different sizes.

By the time I get to the Dome I have 2-3 bags left to chunk at the Dome

I usually catch them from other parades I go to.

If not I will buy them from our Float LT who knows someone who sells reconditioned beads at discount prices.
