Disney With Toddlers

Considering going to Orlando with some friends. All kids are 2-6. It's mainly a trip to let them enjoy an us to remember. I'll be using points and staying offsite. I am curious which parks are the most toddler friendly. I've heard Universal Studios is pretty awesome right now with the Despicable Me stuff which the kids are obsessed with. We were thinking of 2 other parks to try and I thought Magic Kingdom and maybe Animal Kingdom. I like Epcot but hated it as a kids so that's probably out. Does anyone have a recommendation based on experience with kids that age?

It's no Walley World... but I think you will like it.

Magic and Animal is correct answer. They just expanded the little kid area. Toon Town

straight up the despicable me ride had me doing breathing exercises to keep from throwing up everywhere.
Universal is trying to be more kid friends by it really isn't.
Magic kingdom is the way to go with this young kids ( i still like it, and no i won't reveal my age)

I love Universal and Islands of Adventure. I honestly enjoy them more than Disney. My 3 year old son loves the Marvel Super Heroes, Dr Seuss area, Harry Potter area, and the Despicable Me themes. You can spend a quality two days there and another quality two days at Disney. I'd do Animal and Magic Kingdom for the kids.
Overall, just relax and have a good time. Do what the kids want to do and they will likely fall asleep before 8pm, which gives you and the SO a little alone time. Good luck

We loved it also. My 4 year wanted to ride it over and over again. Good thing we were staying on property and had Express pass. LOL.

Universal is geared more for middle school and teenager kid crowd. MK and AK are more for toddlers imo. MK also just started serving alcohol, at least in the new fantasy land area. Not sure if it's expanded yet.

We do Disney every year, but last year we did a Universal only trip. My kids loved it. We'll be in Disney next week, but are also planning a Universal trip for later in the year. I'm really looking forward to the new Diagon Alley.
My youngest is 4 and there was plenty for him to do at Universal.

Alcohol at MK is only in the new Be our Guest restaraunt

combination of jerkiness and a complete lack of any air flow. gets me every time, and in a lot of Universal rides.

If you got sick on this, how you'd like Harry Potter? That thing was brutal. LOL

Yeah the Harry Potter ride is significantly worse.
Universal generally skimps on the air conditioning. that is the biggest problem.

Can you bring big strollers in the park or is it better to rent one?
Posted on 2/23/14 at 6:21 pm to Clark W Griswold
We always bring our own. Nice to have it when leaving the park.

We are here now with a 2 & 8 year old. Stay on site, even if you stay in a cheap hotel. The food plans, magic bands, extra hours, fast passes, etc are worth it...

I got a free condo a mile away. Our kids dont eat much anyway so Im not worried about meal plans. We will probably go in the morning, leave for lunch/nap and then go back after that. Other than a character breakfast, I doubt we eat any meals in the park.

MK as others have said is great for the toddlers.
Also Hollywood Studios is wonderful. They have an area geared for the tots .. Disney Junior area with meet and greet . Animation areas where u can learn to draw. Star Wars areas where the kids can fight Darth Vadar. Stunt shows; Indiana Jones and Lights Motor Action. Toy Story Mania.

can I piggyback this thread??
I am going to Disney in six days. We are bringing two girls aged 5 and 7. The five year old had open heart surgery as an infant and tires easily. (she is fine now and the cardiologist said it wasn't related to the heart but still..) Would it seem odd or questionable to have a five year old in a stroller at Disney?

I just bought a sit and stand stroller. I plan on leaving it for someone to have when we leave the Friday after next.
